Option to change language to english
I recently bought Tales from Borderlands and I beg whoever is in charge at Valve to activate the option of changing the language for that game. I had to go into my windows language setting to rid myself of the german translation. I can understand if people who are not good at english need that but I would appreciate the option to choose since I played all of my Telltale games in english and I don't wanna start with that english voiceover and german subtitles crap.

Is your Steam in English? Because I once had Steam set to Dutch and the texts in Half Life 2 were translated because of that. (couldn't stand it)

My steam is in english and i still get the texts translated in german. At least the workaround with the windows options seems to work.

Thanks for the tip, Vamp.

What settings did you guys change exactly?
My steam is in english, my Windows is....and Tales from the Borderlands stays german. not gonna play it like that :/
@Gaylord Longdic

I assume your Windows is in german too.

We wouldn't have to go through all that crap if Valve would just activate the option to change language like they did with every other game. XD
It worked without any issues until the german language patch was released. The patch came out shortly after season 5.
From what I know, that was some sort of user made translation and not an official one by Telltale Games. If you look under Guides in the community hub, you can even find the thread where they offer the download for it. However, someone at Valve decided to force this on everyone without the option to turn it off. I dunno but that's how it looks to me since every official trnaslation also had the option to be turned off.

If you look at the shop page, you can also see this game doesn't support german language. This leads to the question, where did that translation come from?
I played the game shortly after Season 5 was released and everything was in english, when i went back to the game this year, all the texts suddenly were in german..

Apparently the only Telltale game which offers an official text translation according to the store page, seems to be "The walking dead Season 1". I´m not sure if someone at Valve did patch "Tales of the Borderlands" without knowledge from Telltale, they might just been too stingy to do their own translation. But who knows?

I´m just glad that i found a fix, but i highly doubt Telltale or Valve will ever do something against that issue.

Hey, I'm perfectly fine if they never translate any of their games. I just hate forced translations. Whoever did this should undo it.

I'm from Germany, but I don't want to play a game in german language, if it's originally in english, especially when it has good writing and humor which is very language specific. Who the hell tought that was a good idea to have the translation forced without a choice?

Thanks for the workaround, Vamp, gonna try it out.
I have every thing set to ENGLISH yet the game is still in RUSSIAN!!!! Can any one help me FORCE THE GAME TO ENGLISH!
I find this annoying as hell, too. As I didn't want to change my Windows options just for one game I looked for another solution and seemed to have found one. First you have to delete or move the language specific files from the game folder (in my case _resdesc_50_German.lua, Borderlands_pc_german_compressed.ttarch2 and the corresponding files for the other four languages). Second, you need to edit prefs.prop in the folder C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\Telltale Games\Tales from the Borderlands and change the entry where your system language is stated to english (in my case I looked for "german" and replaced both instances with "english"). At least for me this worked, now the whole game is in English.

Doesn't work in my language apparently.

EDIT: For portuguese, you need to delete the portuguese files, change the prefs.prop to english, put it to read only, boot the game, wait for it to crash on startup, delete the prefs.prop and boot the game once again. A few extra steps, but it works.
