Should I finish Borderlands 2 before I play this?
In Borderlands 2 I got to the part where you "help" angel and Jack goes nuts and then I stopped playing. Will it really matter if I play this game before I one day eventually go back and finish Borderlands 2... Because I really want to play this game. I'm not that worried about having Tales from the Borderlands ruin some of Borderlands 2's ending unless something really unexpected happens at the end of 2.

Borderlands 2 ending is amazing, so it would be better, but you can play it without finishing borderlands 2

if you want the events to make more sense chornoligically(pardon my typo there), then yes.
Tales takes place shortly after BL2, but BEFORE the beginning of Pre-Sequel..well it starts off in that time-frame anyway.

That is, the story of Tales happense before the framing of Pre-Sequel, whose story happens before the sequel, but the framing of Tales happens after the framing of Pre-Sequel which happens after everything but Tales. Maybe.

@OP The story of 2 is pretty straightforward from Angel's death. Spoiler: The bad guy dies. So I think you're ok playing this. Some characters from the very start are from 2's DLCs, and Athena and Janey are from Pre-Sequel, so that might be a bit confusing, but not much.

Yes, there's spoilers regarding Handsome Jack that took place in BL2, so finish it before starting Tales.

Athena was also in Borderlands 1 Knoxx DLC, so if OP played that before 2 he might be acquainted.

Thanks for all of the tips I just started playing it again recently and I got to the memory thing where you fight that giant robot. Anyway does anyone know how much more gametime there is if I just skim over the side missions from here on out. I realkly want to play Tales.

If you're at Flying City, that's 2 hours, 1 for Wildlife, let's say 2 for Brick and Bunker and 4 for the boring bit. That would be 6-9?
But there's really no plot after Angel's death: Jack is upset, you shoot him, and then there's the sequel hook that they're ignoring.

I wish they would make the next Borderlands game more story based with real cutscenes but it seems like they are just trying to step further and further away from that because of fast and fun co-op. The Old Republic MMO by bioware has tons of story and cutscenes in it and its great with friends

Play Borderlands 2 and TPS if you want to understand everything.
