can i play this game without playing the pre sequel and bs1

i only played bs2 and i generally know the story of bs1 so will i follow the plot

some stuff is tps related yes.. but close to nothing you "need to know" from bl1

I'm a little late but yeah you don't need to play anything before this game. This was the first BL game I tried, it was easy enough to understand. If you only played 2 that's enough. BL1 is pretty much irrelevant.

I dont think you need to know anything. There is minor references- nothing that you'd be lost in. "where did this guy come from?" or "why is this happening" as a result of a previous game--- Doesnt happen.

I think knowing who Athena is before going in might help a bit. That's about it. And maybe the big gal with the eyepatch? Idk which game she was from, maybe the pre-sequel?

Athena's from the presequel, but it's fine to play Tales first so Athena's opening scene in the presequel makes sense. I think that's the intended order of play. And if by big gal with the eyepatch you mean Vallory, she's from Tales.

Oh yeah I keep forgetting Athena's from the General Knoxx dlc that came with B1.
