Legacy ROM
For anyone that wants to play the original ROM version, or wants to continue playing their old savefiles, we made the branch for the game that contains the original ROM.

The way you access this branch is... go to your Library > Right click 2064: Read Only Memories and select Properties > Go to the BETAS tab > Select "Legacy" in the dropdown menu > Close the Properties window. This will make Steam give you the old ROM game whenever you press Play.

Hope this helps :) !

ps. We'll soon post a guide on our website explaining how to do this too.

Thank you for providing this. Will this affect achievements in any way?

Hmm.. shouldn't give you any trouble with the achievements, other than both games sharing them. 2064 and ROM share the achievements system, so if you get an achievement in ROM, it won't show up when you get it in 2064, since it's already in your Steam account. There are a few new achievements in 2064, and those you won't be able to get in the legacy version :)

Thanks a ton! To say I was unhappy when I couldn't find my savefile upon booting up would be an understatement

He is referring to the edition of the game that released as Read Only Memories. It is an older build of the game compared to 2064: Read Only Memories.

The older version has a few differences in story and puzzle, but the obviously notable difference is that there's no voice acting.

Apologies for replying to an old topic, but I can't seem to start the legacy version of ROM: it keeps 'not responding' on me whenever it gets past the initial MidBoss logo. Any suggestions as to how I might fix this? (It was possibly something to do with my trying to transfer my save data from my old computer...).

I'd already completed the game before it was updated/was planning to start anew to play through the 2064 version so it's not too big of a deal, but it would just be nice to have access to my old file again, haha.
