Flashpoint Campaigns: Red Storm

Flashpoint Campaigns: Red Storm

Poor Performance
Hi,

I've been trying to play this, but it lags something fierce. I'm getting terrible FPS when trying to scroll around the map, and I get healthy delays when I right click on anything to try to give it an order. I have a desktop with Windows 10 64, an AMD FX 8350, and a Geforce 970 GTX.

I've tried: Uninstalling/reinstalling, verifying files, turning my anti-virus off, turning aero effects off, running steam as admin, running the game (and the autolauncher) as admin. Nothing seems to fix it. Seems like scrolling around the map should be smooth as silk, but no.

I get odd graphical glitches when zooming in and out, as well: counters disappear briefly, change size, all kinds of bizarre behavior.

Any help appreciated. The only thing that I've seen that I've not tried is the mouse on a different surface, but it's a laser mouse (G602).

I also have 2 monitors, don't know if/why that would be an issue.

I'm not at home, but I can post DXDIAG later, if need be.

TIA

Georgii, we have had a couple other people report sluggish performance with the 12 update. While the graphics engine isn't the greatest thing on earth it should be have decently on your rig. I'm doing Dev work on a 960 card and 450GTS before that without issues. One thing to try is the mouse. First with a new surface. Another mouse thing may be looking to take the polling speed/DPI down (if the mouse has those settings) and see if that helps. Next I would look to the game folder and run the Redistributable library in that folder as Admin. Run both versions too just to be safe. Then reboot and see if things are any better. Send a DXDiag if none of that works. Keep me posted on your progress.
OK, I've tried the mouse on different surface, and run the redistributables in the game folder. I've tried disabling my 2nd monitor, and installed the newest NVIDIA drivers. Below is my DXDIAG

Errr.... no it's not. Which information do you actually need from the DXDIAG? There's an 18000 character limit, so I can't post the whole thing without chunking it up.

Go ahead and send it to me via email at capn(dot)darwin(at)windstream(dot)net
Replace the dot and at with those symbols.
File sent. I wanted to let you know also that I've also tried it in fullscreen and windowed mode.

Thanks. Got your files. I'll check them out tomorrow evening when I get back in town.

Did this ever get resolved? Because I'm having terrible lag when panning and zooming.

What is your OS and video card? Have you tried changing any of the options?

Win 10 64 bit Home. AMD Fx6300. 16 gigs RAM. Radeon RX580 w/8 gigs VRAM, dual monitor. Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 2nd gen audio interface.
I tried running it in full-screen but that didn't help. It is the worst while a turn is running, but zooming in also seems to make it lag more.
I have only tried the tutorial scenario. (Incidentally, what if any difference is there between Open Tutorial and just Tutorial? They appear to be identical.)
Also, I tried to create a PBEM++ acct but it couldn't connect or something.

Go to User Preferences and the Scrolling and Sound tab and do the following - Polling Interval (ms) set it to 10, Initial Delay Factor down to 6 or so, and Scroll increment to around 20 and see if that helps. The game's engine is old and a 32bit one to boot, so it is not the fastest for the scroll and zoom. Let me know if that helps.

Not really I'm afraid. It's pretty smooth more zoomed out, but zooming in can really make it lag.
I also tried running it in fullscreen to see if that made a difference, but no.
I'm going to mess around with compatibility settings and see how that goes.
hmm
I wonder how it'd run on my old Pentium IV Laptop. ;)
EDIT: Interestingly perhaps, I have discovered that using edge scroll is always smooth regardless what zoom level.

As for the open and closed tutorial is you can edit the open one and save a new version.
