Clearing mines
I did google '"flashpoint campaigns" clearing mines' before posting.

I've read a post from 2013 where the developer explained that mine clearing is abstracted but more details maybe implemented in future updates. Is it true that the current version does not include this?

Also, what's the best unit for clearing mines? And is there a preferred mode of movement. Is determined better for clearing mines than hasty? What about assault? Thank you.

Engineering functions in Red Storm are highly abstracted. Any unit at a bridge can request for it to be blown and it will if the unit calling stays there for 20-30 minutes ("covering" the engineers as they work). Same thing for clearing mines or obstacles. A unit in those cases will automatically "call" for engineers to clear/breach the problem. Units that stumble into a mine field can lose units in the mined hex. Any new units that enter can also lose subunits until the hex is cleared. Once a mine field or obstacle is revealed other units will attempt to path around. It take about 30 minutes for engineers to clear a hex. All of these elements is going to get more attention and refined to a more realistic level in Southern Storm.

As for movement modes, deliberate is usually the best for general combat movement. Assault is best used if you want units to get to an objective without getting stopped or having units drop to screen if shot at.

Thank you for the quick reply. In a way I prefer abstraction. Moving actual "engineer units" would be really tedious. Same goes for medical and culinary personnel. ;-P

Hey there, Tech. I'm pretty new but probably a novice by now. Would you be up for a PBEM match? I don't have anything to prove. I just want to enjoy a very novlel and imaginative war game with another fan. :SkullNBones::shocktomyheart::2017stickyhotdog::batarang: :mugman: :batarang::2017stickyhotdog::shocktomyheart::SkullNBones:

Still struggling to get all the basics straight myself. Would attempt multiplayer only after I'm comfortable with single mode. But thanks for the offer! :steamhappy:

A follow-up to my question, Jim. Does movement mode affects mine clearing effeciency? Would assault or hasty sustain more casualty since they tend to ignore safety?

Type of movement does not change the engineering clearance time. We are planning to factor in types of movement and also various modes of breaching in Southern Storm.

I wouldn't mind playing you tomorrow if you have the time. I started playing the game 2 days ago and am really enjoying it.
