A problem occurred in itializing MCI - error message
Did occur until the new update. This occurs when hitting the play button in the popup menu at start. I validated the game files already. Suggestions?

Try going into the Redist folder in the main game folder and running the library Exes as Admin. Are you on a clean win10 build?

Im running win 7. One thing I noted is that when the error dialog comes up the upper left says fprs as the label for the popup. I can't find the library exes and not sure how I would run them as an admin if I could find them.

It used to work and haven't changed my configuration at all.

The error is a windows media player error not being able to play the intro music file. We did not touch that. Go to your library. Click on the Red Storm entry. Right click it. Go to Properties entry. Click it. Click the Local Files tab. Then click the Browse Local Files button. In the explorer window, go to the Assets/Audio folder and see if you can play the Main Theme.wav file. If that fails see if any wav file will play. If not, there is something wrong with windows media player. You can see from there if you can update or reinstall it. It's possible a windows update broke it. You can also open the media player and see if any wav files play or it just our files. We can go forward from here.

Ok, The OTS splash screen works- the one with the tank in media player. I also was able to get another Matrix game to run as a separate test. Media player seems to run other video and sound/music. Not sure what might have changed gone bad given other things are working.

I just found that once I get the error message the game allows me to go to the drill down menus, go to file and then select main menu. From there I can load the scenarios and play a game, I was able to get into a scenario. At least I can play the game.

You can rename the extensions on those two intro AVI files to xxx. The game will skip them and should start okay.
