[Mac OSX] Shadow Glitches, FPS drops and game freezes
I've tried out this game on my Mac, and while the menu screens play out at a high FPS count, the actual game varies heavily in FPS count. When in the game world, and not in any of the puzzles (i.e., in the puzzle hub), the fps is as low as 13-15. When in a puzzle, the fps rises to about 25-35 fps. There are occasional moments, for example in the final puzzle in the castle, when the fps shoots up to 50-60, but that's about it.

Secondly, and more importantly, there is a terrifying shadow glitch that keeps occuring, where the ground is covered in flickering shadows. It looks like the kind of appearance you get when you place two textures on the same surface and they interfere with each other, except it occours all over the ground.

Finally, there are a few times when the game freezes, especially towards the end in the puzzle hub inside the church/cathedral.

Other than those glitches, the game is brilliant. I cannot wait for these glitches to be fixed for the final game, which I intend to play. The story is one of the most intriguing and novel concepts I've seen in a while, and I cannot wait to see more of it. It really is explored very well in this game.

Hope the devs get on these issues soon!

Good luck!

Could you post Talos_Demo.log as described here http://steamcommunity.com/app/330710/discussions/0/620696522003189184/ ?

There is a list Mac with Intel HD graphics, you are using one of these, developers cannot help you http://support.apple.com/en-us/ht3246#iris

It would probably be a problem with my graphics card then. I apologize for the mistake.

WriterV, you might still be able to play by setting the Performance options to "Lowest". That should get rid of at least some of those artefacts.

I'll try that out and see the results. Thanks!

Not sure what WriterV was seeing, but I get severe shadow glitches on Intel Iris Pro (Retina MBP mid-2014), even on lowest graphics settings. The shadow appears as a set of very narrow opaque triangles.

On medium settings, the glitches appear immediately, on lowest settings they appear after putting down the tripod thing.

As noted on the Store Page, under "System Requirements", Intel GPUs are unfortunately not supported on OSX. They "kind-of" work, but with visual issues and other problems. That's because Apple never updated their driver to a newer, fixed version that is available on Windows and Linux for years now.
