So.. Grandia II!
I'm an 28 year old male, and the more I read about Grandia, the more I'm ashamed that I've never heard about these games before. But if I decide to get into Grandia II, will I be lost in the history, since I have not played the first one?

Its a totally different story from Grandia 1.Many years in the future.

it seems to play in a completely different world. so you are not missing anything but 3 or 4 easter eggs (like G1 Musics in minigames, the Mascot of the 1st game showing up in caves and the 1st games protags cap as in-game symbol for light helmets

Grandia 2 is one of the best stories I've ever experienced in a JRPG. The twist at the end is such a gut punch. LOVED IT! Grandia 1 doesn't really have anything to do with 2.

It's like the Final Fantasy series in that each game is stand alone. I so hope they bring Grandia 3 to steam D:

It was on dreamcast, and many people, at our age, rather saved their money to buy a ps2 or a gamecube.

Not us Bought Grandia 2 right away and was not dissapointed.
PS2 version was crap compared to Grandia 2 at 480p on Dreamcast with VGA box.

You can skip Grandia 1 but Grandia 2 is well worth playing (best dreamcast RPG in my opninion)
Just keep in mind it a linear RPG with a point and click world map with points of no return.

Also don't be afraid to put all your points into Mareg, when he leaves your party for good they will refund all the points you put into leveling up his moves.
(just remember to pick the bag up with his points!!!!!!)

No i'm also 28 and played this on dreamcast when i was a boy without having played Grandia first, it was one of the greatest gaming experiences of my life, I recommend highly as for myself I will wait for a lower price.

Same, don't have anything against the game. I already finished it eons ago. I still have my DC with project justice 2 and some other goodies. This doesn't really look like a port to me though.

"Well innat cute? BUT ITS WRONG!!!!"

Ryudo says "You Shall Be Defeated" before "Sky Dragon Slash" in the original Dreamcast version. The PS2 and original PC port switched them around for whatever reason.

Not that anyone but myself cares.

i remember playing Grandia 1 in my room, that was in my grandmothers attic, that i shared with my mother, stepfather and sister, and it was very very small, we we're all huddled together, but i never slept, always with my headphones on, on my tiny tiny tv, playing grandia into the dawn and beyond...such good times...and weird, but whatever. i never actually got to play grandia 2, so this is a godsendt for me.
