As for taking the music from the game itself; the quality of the soundtracks in the game pale to comparison of the actual hard-copy soundtrack that exists. The problem is finding those discs (for a reasonable price) is incredibly hard.
On the plus side; there are some really good fan made covers for this game in some cases.
The mini-album Frets of Valmar was released as a fundraiser for the Japanese Red Cross and can be found on bandcamp :

HMH2 is a horrible example. In fact one would get a better experience listening to the included OOG files with this game (after ordering them a bit) because at least those fade out, where HMH2 just stops -- there's not even silence, it just stops.
Oh how I wish there was a proper release of HMH2...
Yeah, I do suppose in HMH2 it's not that good. The tracks are very short and stop very suddenly (some do have a solid finish). I'd prefer it if the tracks would be played 2 times and would then fade out for most part.
It's a shame, because the game has a ton of excellent songs and I definitely consider it to be among the best game soundtracks around.
There are 3 OST discs that didn't come with the game, you thought this games amazing OST could fit on 1 disc???
Actually a quick Ebay search pulled up the Povo disc (second half of the soundtrack) for a decent price. If you're willing to go that route (I did and had to get them at much higher prices; because availability) you might be able to still grab them. Though whether you'll end up with both discs (because Melodia is supposedly awful and not worth it) at a decent price or get stuck with a bootlegged version (it happens) is going to be hard to say if you get it from just any seller.
Not sure what you're trying to say. The are two discs, released seprately consisting of the OST, called Deus and Povo.
There's also a disc called Melodia which was released with the LE version of the game in Japan, but it only has the two remixes of songs that are on the US game's pack in, as well as arrangements of four tracks from the original Grandia and a track from Grandia Digital Museum.
I am currnetly in possetion of all three of these, though I've been trying to sell my Japanese LE copy for ages...
same here. but i might still buy the digital soundtrack if it was somehow released on steam, just to pay it forward. :)
