Don't worry too much about spending some points on Mereg, since you can find an item that gives you a full refund on said points after he exits the stage for good.

A suggestion. If you want to go optimal put points in the skill books over specific characters or mana eggs, except for their 1st move cancel specials. Skills make the characters way more powerful than their special moves alone and they can be swapped among chars, meaning you conserve points throughout the game.

As for mana eggs only the basic moves (ex, Zap, Burn, Crackle, Howl, Tremor) are essential at max power. Their flashier upgrades like Dragon Zap and Tornado at their max only do marginally more damage than their basic counterpart spells. Especially if you max their respective skill buffs in the skill book. (ex Northwind Chant boosts Blizzard and Wind attacks up to 50% when maxed. A maxed "Howl" spell casted by a character equipped with a maxed Northwind Chant skill with one hit kill most basic enemies for less mana than a maxed Tornado casted under the same conditions. Plus the animation sequence is shorter, as they can be pretty repetitive after a while.

Really it's just Ryudo. Elena and Millenia tend to swap during boss battles. Making neither of these two ideal to use stat items on. Millenia isn't around most of the time and Elena isn't around during the most important battles except 3.

You gave ANYONE BUT RYUDO the Seed's? Hell even he can use magic well enogh to justify giving him those mana ups.

That said : You can buy them prior to entering Valmar, and yes i give a ♥♥♥♥ about censor here as EVERYONE should have beaten the game by now OR know what,when,why,who!
