I'm doing hard mode and I've seen experienced Grandia II players state they have no problem running through the whole game, but I have had issues with a few bosses but it only resulted in me grinding for 10 minutes and trying again. This may just be due to my inexperience with the game.
I felt that if anything the game being too easy towards the 2nd half was the only real weak point of the game.
That said, I still prefer the Dreamcast version since, while this version is arguably the best of the ports, the original doesn't have any of the flaws...
