30 FPS field vs 60 FPS combat
Just bought the game, did not own the anniversary edition before. For me the game runs at 30 FPS in the intro scene/the field, then goes up to 60 FPS during combat (just played for a couple of minutes).
Do you see the same behavior? Was it the case on anniversary edition?

Was the case on AE! There was the option to turn 60FPS in fight on/off.

OK thanks, weird but better than nothing I guess.

Yes, this is intended.

The game was locked at 30 across the board, but then they patched the game to have 60 FPS battles like the Ubisoft PC port.
It looks unnatural to me, and no option to disable? Really?

What does?! the only thing that looks odd is Beast King Smash since the Axe affect was made for 30 FPS.

60 fps battles, with no option other than going back to the more broken Anniversary version. I doubt the broken sound effects for spells wasn't fixed, either.

Maybe adding in data/saves/config
run_battles_at_max_fps = OFF

It still amazes me they did not fix the field fps to go up to 60 as well.

i find it odd that it doesn't run at a steady 30fps where as AE did.

I just launched the game and at 1440p with 8x AA I stumble around 25 fps sometimes, it is pretty sad. I have a 7700k and GTX1080.

Hooo boy, it looks like there may be some tweaking needed. Got a GTX 460 (I know... I know...) and the opening sequence after the first FMV was running at about 5 fps.

You used to be able to disable this and it was needed for a consistent frame pacing in the 30FPS segements. But they removed the option, much like FSE.

The game had zero performance issues in the last patched version of AE. But not anymore.

They can't without rewriting the whole game. FPS was often tied to what passed for physics when this game was originally released and it's baked into the code.

They've had four years to have the opportunity rewrite the engine in the process of making a whole new port for Switch and PC. They could've done it. Instead it's just another bad "port" of Grandia II when they insisted it "wasn't just a port". All lies for another low budget buggy port. Hence why they just keep farming these ports out to the lowest bidder. At least Skybox was upfront, and owned up to their terrible launch of AE and fixed as much as they could without creating a new port. I doubt ANY of the new problems will be fixed, especially after they delayed the PC release to release it broken.
