If you give a damn about story however you want to talk to all the NPC's at least 3 times and every time a new story section opens up, more NPC dialogue becomes available. It may seem overwhelming but so much good stuff is in these conversations (since the characters converse with NPC's in this game). Plus there are missable dinner scenes as well that you may want to see. If you do that you're looking at just under 60 hours including the one side area.
