X marks the spot achievement after HD Remaster
So I have basically tried everything and the achievement doesn't seem to show up, I read after playing a bit that it doesn't pop up if you're playing on keyboard so I switched to a PS4 controller, went to the very beginning, pressed the key and nothing. Then I switched to a regular controller, which steam recognised as an Xbox 360 controller, did the same process and nothing.... Grandia 2 is one of my favorite games ever and I was really hoping to get all the achievements but it seems that this silly achievement won't let me.

It is worth noting that I had bought the anniversary edition but never got to play it, so I started my playthrough after it changed to the HD remaster version.

I would really appreciate it if anyone could help :/

[UPDATE]
After reading another post in the forums, what I did was switch to the beta version of the game (the anniversary edition) and the X marks the spot achievement popped as "anniversary activated". Probably one of the few that had the anniversary edition without playing it and then played the HD but this is how you make the achievement pop

That's because when Anniversary first came out X didn't do anything they literally forgot to bind the Zoom out button.
(or they were just so clueless they never knew Grandia 2 had a button that only worked in battle)
that's why it's labeled as it doesn't do anything because it was literally broken...

Update: HAHAHAHAHAH they literally changed the description
"Anniversary Activated!:
You must have played Grandia II Anniversary Edition."

Nice save... thanks i needed a good laugh
(i wonder if they only noticed this when you/someone else made a post about it...)

Not to necro a three year old topic, but THANK YOU for this post. I was going nuts mashing the X button on my keyboard and controller in the HD Remaster.

For any other poor bastard who comes across this: go to Grandia II HD Remaster in your Steam library and right-click it. Then click Properties > Betas > Select anniversary_edition from the dropdown menu. Grandia II will update and next time you launch it'll be the old Anniversary edition. Start a new game or load a save file and then slap that X button, it should give you the stupid achievement
