(or they were just so clueless they never knew Grandia 2 had a button that only worked in battle)
that's why it's labeled as it doesn't do anything because it was literally broken...
Update: HAHAHAHAHAH they literally changed the description
"Anniversary Activated!:
You must have played Grandia II Anniversary Edition."

Not to necro a three year old topic, but THANK YOU for this post. I was going nuts mashing the X button on my keyboard and controller in the HD Remaster.
For any other poor bastard who comes across this: go to Grandia II HD Remaster in your Steam library and right-click it. Then click Properties > Betas > Select anniversary_edition from the dropdown menu. Grandia II will update and next time you launch it'll be the old Anniversary edition. Start a new game or load a save file and then slap that X button, it should give you the stupid achievement
