Best Graphics Settings?
Hi to all. :ss13ok::cybereye:

So i'm planning to get stuck into Grandia 2 soon, so i've been playing around with the graphics settings a little, but was wondering if anyone had any advice on the best setting config?
The default settings were set at 1080x720 & MSAA turned off.

I'm playing on a 28" IPS 1920x1080p monitor, & my GPU is a GeForce GTX 1070 Strix Gaming 8GB OC, so it's reasonably powerful.

What i'm also wondering is should i just go with 8x MSAA which is the highest?
Whether or not shadows will make the game look better?
& if i should have VSync turned On or Off?

Thanks in advance for any & all answers. :ss13ok::cybereye:

Hi there,

You should have no issues playing this game on any settings. However, their appear to be some optimizaton issues that some have run into. Some players (myself included) suffered noticeable slowdowns during cutscenes, and in instances where the camera zoomed out. This issue appears to impact some people regardless of PC quality, so it's likely a issue relating to the game's optimization. From what I recall, disabling AA entirely fixes almost all problems.

However, the game may have been patched since I finished my playthrough, so this issue may be irrelevant. With your setup, though, I would try running everything on max and see if you suffer any cutscene slowdowns. If you do, it's likely related to the AA issue that has plagued many.

Also, one final note: This game runs at 30 FPS, so don't be discouraged if you're running a FPS monitor and you don't see 60.

Hope you enjoy the game!

@ PhalThrax: Cool, thanks for the info m8. I've been trying different AA settings & actually haven't noticed much difference between 8x & 2x, so yeh, i figure i'll just go with 8x, but i'll turn AA off if i do notice any problems.

I've watched the intro cut-scene twice now & haven't noticed any slowdown at all, just a small amount of bluriness during the crowd scene.

Thanks for the advice. :ss13ok::cybereye:

My issue was vising the Hi priest. The test boxes were so slow and the animations had t owait for th espeech to get caught up. Really noticable. There is some kinda sync issues going on there from the game engine I suppose.

@ mikeydsc: do u mean the priest at the start, Father something (can't remember his name), where u get Elena?
If so i haven't had any trouble with that part.

Naw, its when you go talk to the Valdas I think his name is. Its Elana's holy father - like the pope.

Oh, ok. I'm on my way there now. So u mean Pope Zera Innocentius?

Yep, that scene should take like 2 or 3 mins, but it took 20 since the voice/text was WAY off. You cant speed it up either. Get your coffee ready :).

@ Leandro Eidi: Hmm, that certainly sounds (& looks) interesting. I think it's very cool of u to make this. :ss13ok::cybereye:
This is the 1st time i've ever played Grandia so i'll just stick to default art for now, but i'm definately thinking that i'll use ur mod for my 2nd playthrough on Hard Mode.
Thanks for the info. :ss13ok::cybereye:
