crashing when new substance or when opening a file

hi guys,

i was wroking normally all this afternoon (contest entry :) ), when suddenly SD started to crash.

i have the latest version 5.3.2. the laters graphics card driver (GTX970). i have uninstalled it and reinstalled it several times. i also noticed it happens to SP too. i reset my pc, erased the folders i found (likely there's a project one somewhere, as my history seems to be persistent even after i erase folders on AppData, steam, etc.). don't know what to do. please advice.

ok, i just installed the standalone version. same problem.

log file keeps complaining about this:

[WARNING][Data] Unable to find box for Url file:/D:/Textures/Substance/terrain_test00.sbs/1238647197/1213284343
[WARNING][Default] (0): Couldn't find box associated to this url: QUrl( "file:/D:/Textures/Substance/terrain_test00.sbs/1238647197/1213284343" )
[WARNING][Data] Package cannot be found !
... (repeated 2 more times)

this is a non existing sbs (the file is there, then i removed it, i have tried all combinations). the funny part is that when i uninstall and manually delete every folder i find, the reference to the file persists. suggesting a config file is left behind even if i uninstall, even if i delete. can you guys help me pointing out which/where the file is? it's some kind of configuration or history file.

ok, i downloaded the 5.3.3 preview from the allegorithmic site, and it works fine. if anyone has this same issue, make sure you uninstall the steam version first.

hi wes,

yes, the steam version crashes. do note that as of yesterday, the steam version i had was the 5.3.2. as i uninstalled it now, i'm not sure if it was upgraded already, so if steam's is 5.3.3 i haven't tested with that one. please also note that SP also crashes! b2m works fine.

i read on the allegorithmic forum that version 5.3.3 solved the crashing issues and indeed it did. so i'm using the beta build provided in the forum meanwhile.

do yo uknow when will the steam's be upagraded to 5.3.3?

i have the same problem, designer crashes when creating a new document, however painter works just fine

SAME ISSUE SUBSTANCE DESIGNER CRASH WHEN I MAKE NEW DOCUMENT MAKE BASIC NOTE 3 COLOR NOTES AND ONE NORMAL AND NEW GRAPH AND DRAG AND DROP 1 TO ANOTHER PLUG IN AND AFTER 1 MIN SUBSTANCE DESIGNER CRASH

BTW FOR SOME REASONE WHEN I TODAY(I HAVE A 2 MOUTS BREAK BUT DESIGNER IS STILL ON MY PC) START SUBSTANCE DESIGNER HE TOLD I MUST INSTAL AGAIN SUBSTANCE DESIGNER FOR SOME REASON (NO SEE IT ON LIBLARY!!!!) AFTER INSTAL
ISSUE WHAT CAN YOU READ UPPER....

I SCAN with CCleaner and now no crash i report if have more but on week i have work

For some reason CCleaner solve problem (working in Desinger 20 min without crash)
mayby on weekend i checking more

ok, so ccleaner didnt fix it for me, however the new updated sd 5.3.3 works perfectly, thank you devs :D

I ran into this issue as well. The 5.3 update fixed it for me as well.
