No Steam required. They also can be attached to your file windows and anything that isn´t exactly in full screen. The problaby only other downside of these that they don´t make sounds or dance, all they can do is run around on your desktop, can be picked up, sometimes can climb on your open window, (also problaby can climb on your programs that you use too but I forgot lol), they can pick up your window too and carry it off screen. You can also make them multiply without waiting if you want a few. The other positive is that if you have multiple Shimeji models you can have those them up all at the same time. For example you have let´s say a Miku one and then you want a different one like Kesane Teto.
Even a different model can run multiply on it´s own too so you may try to have some kind of control if your PC can´t handle multiple images at once. Unfortunally different models can´t interact with one another.
Uhm I guess that´s about it from what I still remember and they have been around for 10+ years. Hope that helps c:
Might actually just switch to this one.
Not just a thing that sits on the screen with almost zero programming outside of a few presets..
