However, if I try to edit the text or change the font, it's not reflected in the preview. And if I close and open the Media Generator all my text changes are gone.
Ok, I'll make a video and post it.
Pretty simple though. I'm just dragging in the (Default) plugin from Titles & Text and then trying to change the font / edit the text.
I don't think I'm doing anything crazy here, but is there some trick to this? Could someone post a video of changing the font?
I tend to add text in a bit of a different method than you;
* Have the video in place accordingly.
* Click on the Text track to select it (on the left it will be highlighted in blue to show that's the currently selected track).
* From the top menu-bar I go to Insert then choose Text Media. This will place a default and 5 seconds-long text-blurb on the text track (it will read "Sample Text") and the tracks editing cursor is then moved at the end of that.
* I move the text editing window a bit to one side so I can have a better view of things and the video preview.
* I move the tracks editing cursor somewhere over top of the text blurb on the text track so I can see it ok in the preview video.
* I can then make whatever changes I like to the text message, font, size, color, animation type, etc... I can also move / reposistion the text-blub on the video preveiw window too if I like.
* Once I'm happy with the changes I can then close the text editing window.
* If I want to make changes to it, I go to the text-blurb on the text-track and click on the Generated Media icon button (the one on the text-blurb).
* If need be, I can select my text-blub, copy-&-paste it onto a different part and edit it accordingly.
If you don't follow what I'm trying to explain, I guess I could make up a sample vid.
Good luck.
Take a look here: http://tinypic.com/r/29wmxp0/8
If you wouldn't mind posting a video of it working, I'd appreciate it.
Also, just wanted to make sure - My copy identifies itself as Build 953 in Help->About. I'm guessing this is the latest, but any chance there are updates I'm missing?
Thanks again!
I can edit a text-blurb as many times as I want without any issues.
Yes, I have the same version as you.
Did you try verifying the installation? Maybe something's of it is corrupt or missing.
Steam Library, Software, right-click on Movie Studio 13, Properties, Local Files, Verify integrity of application cache.
I've got some errands to do, so might not be able to make & post a video for a while, or other than that, if you had Skype and wanted to chat there, send me a friend request, and in that way it might be easier to do a screen-sharing session that way or to trouble-shoots possible problems.
Good luck.
I'm going to try installing it inside my Windows 10 VM and see if still has issues there.
Just for fun I tried saving some presets to disk. I found the files and edited the text and font. It will change to that if I change the preset even after I can no longer edit it. It's very strange.
It just doesn't seem to work in my native Windows 7 desktop though.
If it works for you in Windows 10, but not Windows 7, then I'm not sure why. Maybe some Windows component is a bit corrupted (such as the NET Framework).
Not sure if my making a video would be of help in this case, as it seems the issues may just be for your computer and with your Windows.
There's nothing particularly unique about my setup. I don't really have anything out of the ordinary installed. I was thinking of .NET as well as I noticed Steam installed as part of the Movie Studio install in the Windows 7 VM. Although apparently the vanilla Windows 7 Service Pack 1 is missing some components Movie Studio needs to run, so it's patching now.
After I get the Windows 7 VM patched up and test it, I'm going to start playing with reinstalling .NET on my native install.
Movie Studio is the only application that I've had an issue with. :(
Unfortunately those exceptions (EEMessageExcception) is too generic to tell what's going on, but something's going wrong inside the .NET CLR. :(
If it matters, the Windows 7 Professional image is from my MSDN subscription, so it's whatever Microsoft normally gives out to Retail. The one installed natively is from the OEM CD that came with my computer so I doubt it's a corrupted install.
Well, not sure what's going on. Maybe you'd be better off to try contacting Sony Support about it and see what they suggest.
If you close the edit-window for a text-blurb, then if you click on the Generated Media icon button (the one on the text-blurb itself), would it then let you edit it?
