VEGAS Movie Studio 13 Platinum - Steam Powered

VEGAS Movie Studio 13 Platinum - Steam Powered

Beeping during playback.
Seriously, this is so annoying. To wait 4 hours for a file to finish encoding, only to find out that there is beeping every 3 seconds in playback.

I did some research on the subject, and it turns out that the audio restoration is running in 'demo' mode. It works 90% of the time, but not always.

Google this phrase:
sony vegas beeping

And you will see examples of others with this bug. So this is a flawed piece of software with no fix, people have had this issue since 2007, and I just want people to know how frustrated I am by this. Now re-encoding again, and there is a chance that I get beeping in playback yet again.

What Audio Restoration plug-in are you using? Movie Studio 13 Platinum includes the ExpressFX family of plug-ins, which all have "ExpressFX" in their names. If you're applying a Sony plug-in that's just called "Audio Restoration" and not "ExpressFX Audio Restoration", that's a component of our professional Noise Reduction 2.0 plug-in collection and is not included with this software.

Demo beeping is a common industry practice for audio plug-ins, just like demo watermarks are common for video plug-ins. If you've ever run a demo for one of our professional products in the past, you may have a demo version of Noise Reduction still installed on your system. If this is the case, demo beeps are expected and you can prevent them by switching to the included ExpressFX version of Audio Restoration.

This has happened twice.

I'm not sure of the circumstances of the first time, but this most recent time I can tell you EXACTLY what happened, hopefully I can help this bug to be solved.

I was encoding and at about ~3 hours into the job. My computer crashed. I haven't prime95 stabled the processor overclock, but it only crashed once or twice in a few months, it's almost stable. I bumped up the voltage a little bit and if it crashes again, I'll give it a bit more.

Anyway, when Movie Studio was opened again, it detected that the project was interrupted, asked to restore it, which I did. I then had my existing project in the timeline, with edits and everything exactly how I had left it. When I went to save it as a movie, it was now called 'Untitled' but that was okay, I typed in my movie name, and started encoding. ~3-4 hours later I had my movie file, with beeping in it. I then typed this message in the thread, started an empty project, applied the exact same plug-in settings and encoded it, and it turned out to be fine with no beeping.

Try it -- get a system encoding with the plug-in and pull the power on it. Do it 10 times.. and encode the restored project. if you never have beeping in your recording, then I have no idea. That'e exactly what happened to me anyway.

issue persists.

I can reproduce it. I'll make a tutorial video on how to generate the bug.

I've made a video demonstrating how to reproduce this bug. It is also present in the Steam version of Sony Vegas Pro 13 Edit. I will make my video public if sony does not come up with a real solution (I created a support ticket). I think asking them in detail first is the right action. I want the problem fixed, and nothing else.
