Problem with creating proxy video
I tried to make proxy files of mp4, wmv and mt2s. Any of those doesnt seem to work. All i get is media offline sign, lack on any visual (audio stays), and no progress bar at the botton (of making proxy video). Any idea whats the cause? Thanks for any help :VSnake:

I'll need a bit more context before taking a guess. Can you describe, step by step, what action you're taking to create these proxies?

well, i create new project or start with old one, then open different files so they appear on timeline and in poject media window, then right click file and select "create video proxy". I tried different formats, single and few files at once. First time i tried it i got note that proxy is being made but thats it

Using Windows Explorer (not the Movie Studio Explorer tab), navigate to the folder where your media files are stored. Proxy files are saved in the same folder as the source media with the same name, and have the file extension "sfvp0". So, if your original clip is called VideoClip1.mp4 and you create a proxy for it, in the folder with the original clip you should see a new file called VideoClip1.mp4.sfvp0. Do you see your proxy files?

Note that proxy files don't show up on any of your media lists in Movie Studio 13 Platinum. Once a proxy has been created, Movie Studio will use it as needed seamlessly, without interrupting your workflow.

yes, i see them, 0kb files. But how can i be sure if they are valid? They seem to appear instantly and since there is no progress bar i cannot say if they are finished (or sd version atleast). Also it doesnt solve media offline and black screen problem
Movie Studio preview lags for me when 2 or more videos are on timeline, thats why i need this feature (i didnt have this problem in vegas, i also tried different settings, some helps a little but none solves problem in 100%)

Proxy files should definitely not have a size of 0kb. A proxy file, behind the scenes, is just an MPEG-4 video file at 1280x720 resolution stored in a special container. They're almost always smaller than the original files, but not 0kb.

It seems that for some reason the proxy rendering process is failing on your system. It's getting far enough to create a file with the right name, but not actually putting any video in that file. This also explains your "Missing Media" message. Movie Studio sees the proxy and tries to use it, but there's no video in the file.

I've never encountered a similar issue before, so I don't have any recommendations off the top of my head. Our technical support will need to gather some more information about your particular system in order to troubleshoot the issue further. I see that this post is a couple of years old, but I am having this exact same problem and have struggled to find a solution through hours of digging. Did you ever have any luck in finding the solution to this problem?
Thanks!

if i remember correctly i wanted to use proxies because of other bugs or low performance/stutters but then patch came out and it got fixed, something like that, didnt need workaround anymore

Well shoot. I haven't updated SV in ages so that may explain in. Thank you for the rapid response. Cheers!
