VEGAS Movie Studio 13 Platinum - Steam Powered

Maxing out my CPU and RAM when idle.
Open a new project, import media files (bandicam game recording files) and from this moment on my CPU is running at 100%, even after all peaks have been built, also my RAM is running 9.5 of 16 GB.

Trying to play the draft movie or even sliding the marker to particular frames is laggy as hell, can take 20 to 30 seconds for an individual frame to show in the preview screen.

This is before I render anything, it's using pretty much everything I have resource wise even when idle.

System specs
i5 4670K OC 4.2 GHz
Zotac 970 amp extreme
16GB 2400 DDR4 RAM

This has been happeneing for a while but never happened with Sony Vegas 12.

I've definitely never heard of these symptoms before. Offhand, I have a couple of thoughts:

-How many media files are you trying to import at once? If it's quite a few, try importing just one or two to see if the problem might be related to how much media you're adding at once.

-If the problem persists with even just one or two media files, try performing a clean boot according to {LINK REMOVED} from Microsoft (the Windows 8/8.1 instructions also apply to Windows 10). Does the problem persist after a clean boot?

I performed a clean boot and there does appear to be an improvement, however it still seems to be using a lot of resources.

Here's 2 screenshots that show CPU/RAM activity when running this program, both taken after the peaks were built, I imported only 3 x 5 minute clips of gameplay footage.

The first shows high CPU and medium RAM usage when playing the file.

The second shows similarly high CPU usage and increased RAM usage when not playing the file but randomly moving the marker from frame to frame.

If I pause the player and then attempt to move the marker to a different frame, in order to show that frame in preview it lags pretty badly, as soon as I start using a different application however, in this case windows snipping tool CPU activity flatlines again although RAM usage stays at around 5.5 GB, also no other programs were running during this test.

That's very odd. Does this problem affect media from other sources, or just these Bandicam files? If it's just these specific files, I'd be very interested in getting a sample clip to test if you're willing to provide one.
