How to render 3440 x 1440 or 2560 x 1080 (Ultrawide 21x9)!!
It took me forever to figure out how to actualy render an aspect ratio of 21x9. So here it is everyone.

1. From the main menu, select 'Make Movie'
2. Choose 'Save to hard Drive'
3. Click on 'Advanced Options'
4. Select the codec 'MainConcept AVC/AAC' from the list on the left sie of the window
5. Select 'Internet HD 1080p' for the template listed on the right side of the window
6. Click the 'Customize Template...' button
7. From the drop down menu for Fram Size, select '(Custom Frame Size)'
8. Manualy Enter your Width and Height into the boxes below - eg. 'Width - 3440 / Hight - 1440'
9. If you have a high end graphics card with lots of CUDA cores, you can select a diffent encode mode for faster rendering of the video. To do this, located where it says 'Encode Mode' towards the bottom of the window, and choose 'Render using CUDA if available' from the drop down list. Leave this alone if you are unsure of or do not know how many cuda cores you have.
10. SAVE! Choose a name for the template at the top of the window, and hit that save button.

Now you can quickly choose this setting for rending your ultrawide videos!! The output is surprisingly small in size, even with a 3440 x 1440 render, and uploads perfectly to YouTube for veiwing on an Ultra Wide pannel.

Happy Rendering everyone!! Hope this helps others that had as much of a struggle as I did.

steps 4 and 5 are the MOST important steps . ( thanks too , saves a lot of testing )

Just one question:
the source footage\images need to be 21:9
Don't want to inadveranly crop 16:9 footage .
where is the 21:9 source footage going to come from ?
( Don't want left\right black bars either )

please give us more info .

How long does it take to render?
I made a video of 15 minutes (60fps 2560x1080) and it took 1 hour 15 minutes to process
you think is a good time for the render in this resolution ?

5x , yeah , that sounds about right , using CPU .

Sounds about right. I did a 10 minute video in 3440x1440p 60fps and it took about an hour or a little more.

The source fortage does not need to be 21:9, but is best if it is. If you say, want to have a 16:9 video and make it 21:9, then you have 3 options.
1. Zooming in to make it 21:9, but loosing video on top and bottom.
2. Stretch the image wider by turning off "Maintain Aspect Ratio" in crop settings.
3. Do nothing, and have black bars on the sides.

As for finding source footage, well, that depends. What are you trying to make a movie of? There are alot of movies that are actual filmed in cinimatic 21:9 already. I personaly use my own footage I capture in my games at 3440x1440 60fps using NVIDIA Shadowplay.

Sorry for the late reply. Hope this helps.

thanks ,

i did find that
64/27 is defacto at 2.37037 repeating , 2560 x 1080
21/9 is 2.3333 repeating , 2520 x 1080
i have seen DVD movie jackets say : 2.35 Ulta Wide Cinema Scope .

monitors don't always use 2560 x 1080 .

and you use 3440 x 1440 ,...
i guess if the apsect is close to 21:9 , theeeennnnn it's ok.

i like your 1. option the best .

50% 9:45 sec so far on Render. Using a 1800x & 1070 ftw... Don't know what it's using to render guess CPU as it's hitting 70-80% in task manager... File is just under 9:30 time 3440x1440 - 30fps... Nvidia shadowplay @ 15mbs.Mainly just wanted to say Thank You for "MainConcept AVC/AAC" was trying to use the Sony variant and it wasn't working. The render is set to variable 12m-24m for what that's worth... 93% @18mins so far... Kids are home... Good luck all happy gaming and content creating!!! P.S. using Vegas Pro 14.
