Maximum number of tracks?

I can create a maximum of 20 video tracks in one project... Is this the maximum number or am I missing something?

Yes, that is the maximum for movie studio. For unlimited tracks you'll need vegas pro..

each video track can have Unlimited Event clips , on each Track.
However , MS13P only allows 20 Video Tracks .

you can put an Unlimited number of Short\Long clips on each track .

One track could hold 1,000 clips .
i have put 10,000 .png images onto a single video track .
( oops , i did that in vegas , but i think it is also true with MS13P )

Magix has Up'd the feature set in MS14P .
200 video tracks , some extra new Blue FX add-ons ,
and it comes with DVD architect to author menus for DVD and blu-ray .

because of the above ,...overall , MS14P has become the "Better Deal" .

a question might become , is MS14P worth the 80 price tag ?

Steam Summer sale had Vegas 14 Pro for 170 , which is less then a Sony
upgrade price . That was the Very , Very best price on Big Vegas .

don't be concerned about GPU acceleration . i use CPU only.

the biggest issues with Any of the above is :
if it imports your source video and audio , then you are golden .
you should then have No issues of any kind .

the Vegas series MS13P MS14P Vegas ,
bridges the gap between standard video editing and Composition .
Complex compositions using Parent\Child tracks ,...i have indented
track Controllers to 5 levels deep , so it seems there is No limit on that .
Adobe has "After Efects" for fancy compostions , and a huge price tag .

the render quality is real good . i only use .m2ts
it supports Dolby 5.1 audio , import and export .
the full integration of Dolby alone , could have cost more then
Vegas Pro Suite , once upon a time .

if you like to use Layers in Photo Shop Elements to composite with ,
then you can use Video Tracks in MS13P to composite with .

how soon could anyone out grow MS13P ?

if you use Parent\Child tracks to composite with ,
( you will need to study the "Video Signal Flow Diagram" )
in the help file . Search for the above quote string .
you will need to know the order of how the tracks composite ,
combined with Blend mode , Transparencies and Parent\Child tracks .
( it can be a complicated orchastration of technique )

However ,
for regular Video and Audio editing , it is Very simple to use .

As long as you don't need to make Menus , then you can do :
Video and Audio editing ,
Composition to make unique special effects
Alpha channel support on Import , with Mask Generator FX .
Alpha Blending and Transparencies ,..etc,..
Blend modes are limited to "Source Alpha" and Multiply ,
however , "Source Blend mode" can be manually "built" .
So , 3 blend modes are possible .
Dolby 2.0 and 5.1 audio .
.m2ts blu-ray rendering .
4 k rendrer in Stereo audio , 3840 x 2160
slow motion is limited to 4x and .25 speed up slow down ,
only one setting\speed per Event .( No envelope curve for slow motion )
you can Cut the clips and time stretch each segment .
Keyframes are supported for each Video FX Effect .
XY axis only ( Plane )
only Big Vegas supports XYZ axis for a real 3D editing environment .

if someone starts stacking tracks in MS13P , then 20 tracks
can go pretty quick .
For most special efrfect compositions , usually only seems
to use about 7 video tracks .
If you put a Single Letter on each track , to Spell words , then
20 tracks implies only 20 Letters can be made that way .
If you never do that , then 20 tracks will always be plenty .
How many PhotoShop Element Projects have you seen that use 20 Layers ?

you will have to get MS14P directly from Magix web site .

what ever you decide to get , make sure it is a Platinum version .

2 programs that go good together are PhotoShop Elements
and Any vegas editor version Movie Studio Platinum or vegas .

Is using the multiple "tracks" a way to render multiple videos?

Yes to Edit Multiple videos simaltaneouslly .
No to Batch rendering . MS13P does NOT do Batch rendering .


i could edit ,...cut and stick stuff together on track 1 .
a different video could be on track 2 , i can edit track 2 , cut and stick stuff back together .

Mute track 2 and mute track 2's audio , when working with Track 1 .
etc ,..

each Track Controller is dedicated to each Track , so each track
has it's own FX effexts and it's own keyframes .

i now have 2 diffeent videos edited . Track 1 and Track 2 are unrealated .

Now ,
i can Mute track 2 , and render track 1 with track 1's audio .
when done , i can
Mute track 1 , and render track 2 with tracks 2's audio .

there is No Batch rendering feature in MS13P .
So,
only 1 render at a time .

if doing this ,
you will need to set the Loop marker to the video that you will render .
ie; Render Loop Region Only .
otherwise MS13P will render the Longest track length .

could allow upto 20 videos being edited simaltaneouslly , as long as each video
only requires 1 video track , and it's audio only requires 1 audio track .
