How does saving work?

Does it save in a run?
Just gives me the option to restart.

The game doesn't save any progress you've made during the run. If you close the game mid-run, you loose all the gold and exp you've earned there. But you have the option to return home any time, and that way you don't loose anything. Every run is a randomly generated instance dungeon, so you'll have to start over when you return home mid-run. But the run typically takes 20 minutes, so in my opinion it's not a big deal. And your real progress takes place at home anyways.
