Think about Lucy as more like melee character than ranged (since she can't kite like Linda). All melee characters in this game need to meet a certain workshop upgrades threshold (health + DPS) to be viable and not to slowly bleed to death on normal enemies.

Both Kevin and Lucy are ruthless killing machines when they are upgraded enough, they can kill stuff far quicker than other heroes.

Also with Lucy i found it useful to invest in her shield skill (up to level 3), since 3 free hits is usually all you need to finish anyone off and not lose any health. I agree that twister is somewhat lacking, but her taunting mirror spell is very important. And afterburner effect too, which does AOE damage.

Tornadoes are too expensive, forcing static gameplay to mage is meh and there's no skill diversity and any other offensive spells than default fireball and tornado. Definitely the worst character along with other melee except John, who at least has shield. The new character meanwhile is way too OP.

Can't really give any tips other than just spam decoy and try to pump out as much dmg as possible before you're forced to move again. She sadly has incredibly low dmg with her basic attack and has to stand still for it to ramp up and even then it's still worse than most of the other characters. (She was hitting for like 13 dmg a hit at one point where my other characters were hitting for 40 dmg on average while also having AoE baisc attacks)

Lucking out and getting some good runes during a run can make her better. (Having her tornado shoot in a straight line works well, the 3 mini tornados is terrible though)

Her main problem for me is just her low DPS, it's not hard to survive with her as it's easy to dodge with all of the ranged characters, you just gotta take the run slow because her DPS is so bad. Once you unlock her last passive buff there's basically no reason to play her IMO. As Linda is easier to play AND does more dmg... so yea...

She struggles against big portion of bosses, since she lack mobility, but overall she is quite strong. Even manage to kill 3rd Bahamut boss solo with her.

Idea is, threat her like a mobile turret, open spaces are bad, small tunnels good! You need to put her in good position and then fire for long periods of time, it will increase her rate of fire and increase side shots from her fireballs.

Tornado are mainly for crowd control, to slow down enemies and gives you time to hold good position.

Ilusion are main escape ability, when you get surronded, since it uses too much mana, still it's gonna save you when needed.

Her strongest point is her Guardian Rage, if you invest in it, it will become one of the best rages among all characters. Speed, DPS, area attacks, it's great! Preferably you'll buy Rage gain boost at the house as well, it worth investing!
And yes, for the record I am playing on Hard.

Personally Lucy is my favourite character but as you can see from everyone else, that is basically just me. Depending how you play she can be extremely powerful, if you fully upgrade her ability for enemies to explode upon death and for critical hits to spawn mini tornados. These upgrades allow you are to turn a tornado and a horde of weaker enemies into an ied and trap larger enemies in a mostly self-sustaining pool of tornados, depending on how much you have upgraded your critical hit chance.

In my mind Lucy is all about mob control and positioning. The basic mindset "how do I place my skills and myself in this terrain against these mobs, so that I can stand still in one place and blast away as much as possible?"

I use Tornado and Decoy sparingly. Lucy has tremendous range and can even hit things offscreen. Her AoE is also decent once she's warmed up and fires sparks to go with her main attack.

One tactic is to place Tornado in choke points and then blast away, while everything sits helpless in it (don't move too far away from the Tornado, just far enough that stuff can't hit you).

Decoy is a tool that I use to distract ranged enemies and things with hazards long enough for me to kill them.

Her ultimate deals less damage at first. Its main advantage is, that you can now move and blast at the same time (like Linda). I use it for situations where the above is not enough to handle the crowd.

As usual don't forget to plan for divine reliquies should you happen to have them.

Contrary to what others have written, I have done basically everything with Linda first and never felt that she needed certain upgrades to get the job done. Her damage output hardly matters to me, because she can take on basically anything just with her excellent skillset (mob control and survivability).

I actually thought linda was terrible at first until I got the 3 shields and decoy...then shes pretty nuts

I'm only like halfway through the second deity's dungeon but I always found Lucy to be my strongest character by far. She almost never gets damaged if you're careful thanks to her free hit blocks every few seconds. While her base kit is a bit weak almost all of her runes give insane effects to her.

I think she is OP compared to most, but then I found her range and shields essentially made her a tank with massive damage output. But then I'm not very excited about any of the character's rage skills and instead focused largely on sidewinders, shield, and anything else that bolstered her damage and survivability. I suspect though it is all about play style.

I generally aggro a huge mob with Lucy, then either lay a tornado if I have enough distance, or a decoy, dodge out, then start firing. I use her dodge both to gain distance before firing and to avoid losing shields when shepherding a group of enemies.
I'm not sure how good/bad this play style is, as I feel like my mastery of this game is rather subpar compared to others. But I seem to do better with Lucy than I do with most other characters at this point, occasionally to include Linda.
Or maybe I am doing better than everyone else because I have gotten where I have with so few health/damage upgrades (why spend money on health and damage when you can spend money on getting more money? I've told you before, people are a renewable resource.) - from what others are saying, some characters just aren't viable until you've hit a certain amount of damage/health they have. So I might still be below that ratio.

The biggest advantage Lucy has is her shield, in my opinion. Where I'm scrounging for health potions with Linda - Lucy is leaving a wake of them behind her.
