LAN Co-Op? How many players total?

Title pretty much says it.
I've got 5 friends I get together with regularly for LAN parties. We are always looking for new games to play and this one looks right up our alley.
I read that online co-op will be added post release. Is it 2 player split screen co-op only until then? What about after? 6 player co-op? Offline LAN co-op?

Only local couch-cop for now, shared screen (no split).

I assume the online co-op will only be for 2 players (as is the local co-op atm), but can't say for sure, I don't remember finding any info saying otherwise at least.

The game wasn't co-op from the beggining - it was a kickstarter stretchgoal, so I don't really think it'll allow that many players at once.

If you need a "similar" (as similar as possible, but actually very different, haha) game with that many supported people, best one I can suggest is Heroes of Hammerwatch (4 player online co-op, but you can increase the player limit with a console command or changed setting file).
