I managed to get one and felt like it was an achievement, went to go do some digging and planning to make some rooms, came back and he'd destroyed most of my crafting and storage area including all the rare scrolls and alot of the rare materials I'd been saving the entire run to create a some great gear.
Because of the save system I can't even go back to undo it, so it's messed up the entire point of this run and I just have to scrap it.
I'm not even sure you play this game or understand what your talking about. But lets pretend for a moment you do. Yes lets build another house elsewhere although you still need a bed and none of the beds are immune to fire nor are any of the doors you make so the instant the elementalist wants to go to bed everything around him will be engulfed in flames especially if you want to lvl him up because your gonna need paintings and other things to make the room good enough to level him. but if you walk through there while your fire elemental will just incinerate everything.....yeah back to my previous point Please remove friendly fire elementals. Like they are technically the worst unit in the game at this point zombies serve more purpose i don't need a soldier that kills my own units and is a blight to my building and army.
I mean it'd even be better/funnier if he set himself on fire with his own elements, because he's clearly incompetent as one if his own creations are so destructive to his own stuff.
Your forced me to try out using elementalists again, I haven't messed about with them for a couple of years.
My conclusions are:
1) Yeah, I can see that levelling the elementalist up would lead to lots of stuff getting burnt and doesn't work.
2) He is a very special unit that can do things other units can't. Try giving him a spying ring and a fire resistant one, then go and explore an enemy dungeon. You can also build a stone farm with his earth elementals if you set it up right.
If you remove features without fully exploring them, you will destroy a lot of emergent gameplay in KeeperRL.
Now you know he burns down dungeons, use it to your advantage and think about how to use the unit other ways.
So... check out the workshop. Tell me how many of the mods you see are created by a guy named SoftMonster. I'd dare say he knows the game's codes and mechanics almost as well as the devs do.
I will retract my statement about you not playing the game. Its obvious you play quite a bit. But i still don't think an elementalist should even be able to burn all your ♥♥♥♥ down. Or at least give me the option to tell him to not summon elementals. But really the only thing I want him for is summoning elementals. In my opinion which no one needs to agree with he is ridiculously bad. I wanted an elementalist and when I got him he failed to meet any single one of my expectations of being a badass that I would actually want to use. No he's just a risk to my entire army and doesnt do any better than a singular mage or a dragon. Since I can order those at least to stop burning my ♥♥♥♥ to the ground lol. Your right nothing needs to be changed about elementalist. But if nothing is change than who would even care to use him. There's no reward for the risk that is offered.
[Edit: It's a code change to add a RemoveCompanions effect. Not got time].
