Report a translation problem
Capturing enemies requires going back to your base and clicking on them in the immigration ui.
They didn't get captured, their bodies literally turned into corpses.
The loss screen reported them as deaths iirc.
I'll see if I can take a screenshot/video of it next time I play.

Minions have 3 states. Alive and walking around, dead, or captured and laying down. If your minions were laying down on the field, they had been captured. Captured minions (yours and enemies) die after their timer reaches 0. To prevent this you need to enslave the enemies (exit combat and "recruit" them through the immigration system) or destroy the enemy base to free your minions.
Your minions died because you let the timer run out.
