what does the key do

in the gebinning of the game i always find a key but i have no idea what to do with it. what does it do?

You use it to enter the Black Market, which is located in the Unremakrable Dungeon. You can buy the amulet of life-saving there, along with other items like potions of permanent levitation and scrolls of double trouble. The amulet of life-saving costs 2,000 gold and you need it in order to access certain locations added in Alpha 30, like Hell and Australia.

I haven't been able to enter the Black Market, despite having the key on person. Ah well, the wall of minions will keep my Keeper fresh and safe.

Thanks for this reply. It definitely helps. I'm not sure what they mean yet, as I've not gotten anywhere near that far, but I laughed for quite awhile at, "...you need it in order to access certain locations added in Alpha 30, like Hell and Australia." I mean, not two places that I would casually set beside one another, but I'm sure there's a reason for it! Can't wait to find out.

Hell is a location *in* Australia. You might know it better as Alice Springs.
