Prisoners?
ive played a good bit and won a few times but i have no idea how to take prisoners. ive read it has something to do with the enemies morale but ive had dwarves on my map and when they attack,even if i get them to pink morale by trapping them, they just flee for their lifes , heal and come back later. how do i enprison them?

I think thats a bug in the game, you simply can't get them for some reason, even if you have plenty of cells to keep them in. i could never capture Prisoners my self on MANY differant games. they just walk into my traps, and run away, send more troops while my traps aren't built yet and breach my base and just get smeared. (if i'm lucky)

Or dance around trying to escape slowly get cornered and then killed. they just won't surrender. i'm suprised this is still a thing myself, figured it'd be fixed by now. :/

i believe it is in the game one way or another as the torture device and prison tiles are in the game and ive read multiple writings after posting this. i just think there should be an easier way ,if there is one, like pressing b to bind a wounded enemy or something

It does appear to be broken at the moment. I have some plans to overhaul the whole capturing mechanic, since it wasn't well implemented anyway, so it should get fixed soon.

Back in the days of Dungeon Keeper (think 1995), there was simply an option to toggle whether or not the minions themselves would take prisoners.

This would encourage your minions to merely render the foes Unconscious for the Imps to drag back to the prison. From there, you, the Keeper, had the choice of whether or not to let them rot in prison (spawns Skeletons in DK), die in the Torture Chamber (spawns Ghosts in DK), or keep them alive long enough to outright Convert the creature after enduring enough torture.

Also, depending on who you torture, you would gain more information about the enemy lair. Which, for that game, was nice.

Naturally, if the Imprison option was toggled off, the carcasses would be taken to the Graveyard (spawns Vampires after so many corpses).


I feel this is easily a page the developers could borrow from Dungeon Keeper. Rather than commanding a creature to try and Imprison, simply give the order across the entire Keep.

It would be nice having a jailer creature that is used to haul unconcious victims to the prisons and having most creatures the option to "set phasers to stun" with some being unable to perform this action (all/most beasts, orcs (reduces their use slightly)) so that strong minions usually always kill which means less potential troop count as a trade off.

If one creature is told to take prisoners then another creature might run in and kill the vicrtim first. It makes more sense to have a global option on the "Orders" menu to either "take prisoners" or "massacre".

Instead of clicking on "control" to take control of a prisoner, you could teleport him to jail by clicking on "imprison".

Ah, idk man, i'd prefer it if it was like how it was when it worked. I don't want to deprive my dudes of there kill'in. If the might and meer presence my men sow terror through the ranks of the intruders and they happen to surrender that would be good to.
its more manna for me and the amusement of my minions as they torture them, and i can collect their skulls, and FINALLY complete my Forest of Skulls on top of my Sea of Bones, Meh he he if you catch my meaning >:)

I had loads of prisoners last game on Alpha 21. Very nice feature.

There may be a bug. My orc shaman go and torture the prisoners, then heal them. Then torture them. The prisoners never take damage.

I figured that was the Shamans prolonging the torture by healing over the wounds, then starting again. A show of sadistic behavior, that sort of thing.

Actually kinda bummed that's a bug. It would be neat for different minions to take a different approach to their bit of fun.
