The author, an experienced figure in the adult visual novel (AVN) space, explains the tools and processes behind AVN development. Most AVNs, including No Mercy, are created using Ren’Py, an open-source visual novel engine, and DAZ3D for 3D character renders. Contrary to some claims, these renders aren't made with Unreal Engine.
AVNs often reuse popular character models from asset stores, which creates a sense of familiarity across games. Games like Eternum and Ripples use Honey Select, though due to licensing restrictions, such games can't be sold on platforms like Steam—many are distributed for free via donations.
The post also touches on community and controversy: While some developers are highly dedicated (e.g., Dr. Pink Cake), others have scammed players, like the devs of Milfy City. AVN communities (Discords, Patreons) are usually welcoming and passionate.
Tools like Blender and Octane are also used for animations, but opinions are mixed on incorporating AI in artwork. Lastly, the content of AVNs often involves taboo relationships, a trope rooted in older media, but the author stresses it's all fictional and not reflective of real-world desires.
They invite questions or suggestions on AVNs and are open to clarifying further.
my own personal opinion on the matter is this: all the people who are screaming that people playing these games are dangerous perverts and want to do horrible things to people, because they are playing a computer game... THOSE are the people who likely have some real psychological issues and should probably be watched very closely. there is something off there in that behavior and warrants a bit of scrutiny.
Absolutely. There are rape scenes in the original first two Death Wish films. The bad guys actually break into the main character's home and rape his daughter, then they rape his maid and then they rape his daughter again after she had already been traumatized the first time and had become mute. Remember, this is a classic action movie. There's a lot of movies and television shows where this kind of behavior is featured and they've been around probably for longer than several of the people here complaining have. No Mercy is simply one game of many. If it's not content for you, please don't play it. Raising a fuss doesn't help anything and I think they realized that now. The post that mentioned where to buy the game has gotten the largest number of awards on this forum. That shows that this campaign did nothing more than get more eyes on the game, which resulted in more sales than it probably would have ever gotten before.
Exactly dude. I find it extremely hypocritical and biased. Why aren't other similar things, or even worse forms of such content being treated the same? A lot of ♥♥♥♥ of Booktok depicts some extremely ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up ♥♥♥♥, why aren't those things being given the same attention or getting banned? I think the fact that it's a video game is triggering people, for some stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason. Because there's too many things on the internet that are objectively worse, yet are more easily accessible for non-adults.
I just feel really bad for the devs. They're being treated as some sort of monsters, when they're simply capitalizing on fetishes which can also be found on a variety of porn sites. They seem pretty genuine too. And from the reviews I've seen, the game is actually decent, especially for a game of this type, wherein there's a plethora of these terrible 3D VNs. It's quite saddening
Yep. And there's now a rumor going around (which I'm waiting for more sources on) that the developer in fact might be a woman.
I wonder what kind of reaction that would get
