FAQ for R.B.I. Baseball 15
Hi everyone, we have seen some great feedback and lots of questions since launching the game last week. Hopefully this doc will be a convenient reference for some of the more common questions, and we will continue to add to it as we hear about other issues you are having. Thanks for playing!

Is there keyboard and mouse support?
All menus and gameplay can be controlled with a WASD setup on the keyboard. The mouse is not supported. However, if you want to play local 2-player, you’ll need 2 gamepads.

What gamepads are compatible?
R.B.I. Baseball 15 is compatible with any XInput-ready controller and tested on Xbox 360 controllers. The in-game gamepad prompts reflect an Xbox 360 controller.

Help! I don’t know how to control the game…
Controller diagrams and the keyboard legend are available from the Settings menu. From the Main Menu, press [Left Arrow] on the keyboard (X on an Xbox Controller) to open the Settings menu. Then select View Control Scheme. On this menu, use [ ] on your keyboard (LT/RT on an Xbox controller) to tab through controls for different areas of the game.

How do I steal bases?
A stolen base can be triggered by inputting an “Advance Base” command while the pitcher is in his windup. Once you trigger a stolen base, the game will shift to Fielding View and you can control your baserunners as usual. The “Advance Base” command requires you to press Left Arrow (“X” on Xbox Controller) together with the WASD (or joystick) direction of the base you want to approach.

For example, if I want to trigger a stolen base attempt using my runner on 1st Base, I would wait until the pitcher starts his windup, then press Left Arrow together with “W” (to indicate that I want to approach 2nd Base).

I started the game and it’s trying to run in a tiny window. How can I make this bigger?
On Windows, use Alt-Enter and on Mac, use Cmd-F to toggle Full Screen for the window. From there, you have a Full Screen/Windowed toggle and resolution settings available in the Settings menu.

Is the multiplayer cross-platform?
PCs and Macs on Steam can match up against one another. However, there is no cross-platform matchmaking with users on other gaming platforms such as Xbox or PlayStation.

Why is it sometimes called a Strike when the batter is hit by a pitch?
By MLB rules, if you swing while being hit by a pitch, this is considered a strike. In R.B.I., we observe this rule by calling a strike if the user attempts to swing, or if the AI “decides” to swing while getting hit.

There is a known issue though: you will see the “hit by pitch” animation even if you tried to swing. We plan to address this in a future update so that you will see the swing animation instead and it will be clearer what happened.

Why don't the CPU pitchers ever throw a Ball?
On Easy mode, the pitchers throw mostly strikes. If you change the difficulty setting to Hard, they will throw a lot more balls outside the zone. You can change the difficulty setting using the Settings menu either from the in-game pause menu, or the Settings panel on the Main Menu.

Can I play against a friend on PSN or Xbox Live?
R.B.I. 15 does not support cross-platform compatibility between Steam and other gaming networks like PSN. However, we do support matchmaking and friend invites between PC and Mac users.

Using my Xbox One controller with Windows 10, I find the game behaves as though the joystick is held down persistently. How do I resolve this?
We've found that the compatibility issue with Xbox One controllers and Windows 10 can be resolved by downloading and installing the latest driver, which is available here: http://mjr.mn/XboxOnePCDriversx64 (64-bit) or http://mjr.mn/XboxOnePCDriversx86 (32-bit) See 5 Aug, 2015 Announcement on this forum for more info.

I'm enjoying the game a lot.

Please tell me that when I reach the end of the Regular Season it will automatically go into the Post Season? I'm going to be very disappointed if after playing 162 games it ends there.

The 'advance all runners' option works perfectly, but I still can't advance individual runners. Am I the only one having this problem?

I think you should remove that slow ball which rolls along the ground - what is that all about?

Hi, using the controls described above, you should be able to control the runners one at a time. The key is you have to hit the "Advance Single Runner" button and the directional button at the same time.

The ball that drops in the dirt is a random chance whenever you throw a slow ball. Each pitcher has a different chance for this to happen, based on their Drop rating (real-life break on curveballs). These pitches are unhittable. This feature was inspired by classic baseball games, and we think it adds a cool element of suspense -- though not *entirely* realistic!

Glad you're enjoying the game!

Hello, can you tell me one thing, my runners is running automatically or not and how can i do slide during running by runner? Sorry for my english. I'm russian from estonia ))
nathant  [developer] May 13, 2015 @ 3:20pm
Hi Kacnep, the slide happens automatically, based on a close play. So there is no button for this.
AI runners advance automatically only when it makes sense to do so. For example, they will not run if there is a fly ball because they need to see if it will be caught. However, you can manually tell them to run if you want to. On the other hand, if there is a runner on first base and you hit a ground ball, this runner will automatically start running to 2nd because the batter has to be running to first. So the runner is "forced" to second.
So the AI choices are situational, but you can always override them by inputting your baserunning commands. Hope this helps!

I am STILL unable to advance individual runners, neither with keyboard nor my Xbox PC controller. Can someone please check this as the only way of trying to get a runner home from 3rd is to use 'advance all runners' and the CPU throws to 2nd and gets that runner out :(

I'd assume it's the same for all keyboards and if so pressing the "LEFT ARROW" and the letter "S" at the exact same time is how you get the runner from third to home. If it's not at the same time it won't work.

Yeah, it works, but as a control feature it is by far the most difficult and unreliable command in the game.

I agree. I also would like to see the ability to bind your own keys.

If they do that they can expect to sell zero copies of RBI Baseball 16 for the PC next year. It's in their best interest to keep updating. Hopefully they're just taking their time with a new update that will make this more of a PC game. Right now it feels like a lazy console or mobile port and is lacking essential PC features (mouse in menu) and graphic options (anti-aliasing and vsync).
