Also, you mentioned that settings won't save at all. However, are you able to save a new season? To test this out, you'd just have to go into season mode and start a game, then pick "save and quit" and it should have you saved right at the beginning of that game.
first off, ty for responding, i didnt expect any response. second ive had rbi15 for about a month now im not trying to start a new season im trying to find my original season. i went to play my season picking up at the all star game and the game prompts me to start a new season.
as for the setting i start game up i go into settings i attempt to change settings and NOTHING CHANGES. settings say they're changed but nothing in game changes its stuck in 640x480 and i refuse to play anything that looks that much like crap. i havent even bothered to try to start rbi15 because i know it doesnt work.
to recap once again,
1)season gone
2)season gone
3)settings wont even change
4)settings wont even save
should i just request a refund?
it was a couple days after the last roster update - maybe 4 or 5 games worth to get me up to the all star game - i went to play the all star game july 6th and that was the first time i discovered that my season had just disappeared. i 'gave up' for a couple days and played other stuff then id say about the 10th i went to play again just to see if it was working and my season had returned (i have no idea how/why this happened) i then played my all star game and the following 3 games. next time i came back to rbi to play season was gone again and this is when the settings in game stopped responding/working. i can go into settings and change the settings but the game itself doesnt actually change to new settings. seemingly, my rbi is now stuck in 640x480 resolution - i cant change my favorite team (i HATE the giants and any other NL west team aside from my Rockies) - and i havent even tried to play the last few days.
to answer your other question i am running windows 7 intel core duo2 e8400 cpu @3.0g 4gig of ram 2gig video.
i recently got a 1TB hard drive and have been slowly working on moving my "non OS" programs to my new drive and off my C drive. if there isnt a fix to be had to 'ressurect' my season again my next plan is to uninstall rbi and then reinstall to my new steam games folder on my new drive. been pondering doing this anyway to see if it actually will just fix the game but i kinda would like to get my 89-1 season back LOL.
thank you nathant_MLB for responding and helping out with this issue, and i appologize for my frustration in my previous reply.
I want to check for the actual save file first of all. Can you please look in your User directory\Documents\my games\RBIBaseball and let me know if your season save data called "rbi" is there? If it's there, I'll probably have you send it to me, at least to confirm whether your 89-1 season still exists.
Also, if you see "options" in that same folder, that would be your user settings. If you see it, please check the date modified for me.
FYI unfortunately we are starting from scratch here, because your report is the first time I heard of an issue quite like this.
ok options was last modified july 14. this was basically the last time i attempted to even launch rbi to try and see if it was working. at which point it gave me the option of 25 man or classic 16 rosters when i selected play/season from the menu. at which point i exited and havent been in rbi since.
just lemme know where you want things sent.
If the options was modified on July 14, that means that the settings you changed at least tried to store themselves in this file.. .but then they were not loaded correctly for some reason.
i have sent not only the rbi and options file i also sent along the rosters file, as i noticed it was modified 6/21 and i know there was a roster update on 6/26 so figured maybe something borked there.
thanks for your time
Good news is, I was able to load up your season file and continue your series against the Padres without an issue -- you were actually 90-1. So this means your season exists and should be retrievable no matter what. As a next step, I would copy the save file "rbi" out somewhere safe, (like your desktop), completely uninstall RBI, and then reinstall in the new location you wanted. Once you do this, start a new season, and then overwrite it by copying your save file back into the save directory.
Let me know what happens. Since I was able to load up your season with no problem, I don't see why this wouldn't work. Another possibility is that there's something wrong with the read/write permissions on that save folder, but we can deal with that later if necessary. Thanks for your patience!
By the way, here is some info about moving the default steam installation, if you haven't already checked this out: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7418-YUBN-8129
i did try this. started a new season (major issue now is game seems stuck in 640x480 resolution no matter what i do) started a game and exited and saved. went to copy my rbi file into the proper folder and it wasnt recreated. so now im not even sure whats going on. i uninstalled off my c drive reinstalled on my e drive - so its a clean install of the game. i will try again later tonight after work.
i honestly dont know what else to do at this point aside from write off the purchase price and move on. i dont really want to, and maybe it will be fixed in the future, but for now i think i'll timewalk and play one of my older baseball games.
However what I wanted to confirm is if you've actually tried *deleting* the "my games" folder from your user directory and then starting a new season. When you uninstall RBI, this folder stays where it is (just tried it on my Mac), so I think you would have to delete this manually.
I want to make sure the game has the opportunity to recreate this folder from scratch. Then if you've tried this and there's still a problem, I will discuss it with the programmers. Based on the fact that your save data works on my computer, I'm sure we can get your season back. Thanks for your patience!
what i did:
1) backed up RBIbaseball folder in the "my games" directory.
2) uninstalled RBI from my C (older smaller hd)
3) reinstalled RBI to my new TB hd
4) started RBI baseball (still stuck in 640x480 res and no settings change)
5) i deleted the new RBIbaseball folder from the my games, started game saved a game in progress and exited to find the folder had not come back as expected.
so as of yesterday RBI is kinda sorta installed (missing the 'my games' folder entirely now unless i copy my old one back in) and kina sorta works (i can change settings in game to my hearts content) however none of the settings actually change and the previously, many times, mentioned 640x480 resolution just hurts my eyes.
