But yeah, the bosses are way way way way way way way way way way way harder than everything else in the game.
PS : Yes, I did it in the end, but man, that was so much time wasted. I didn't feel rewarded at all. That's quite a shame.
otherwise method of approach stay the same.
Going to go ahead and say this is incorrect in my experience.
Well, for bosses anyway. On normal I steamrolled through them.
Hard? I spent about an hour and a half on White Mikoto. Someone on a much older thread mentioned that people who have fighting game experience won't have trouble. Well, that would be my favorite genre and I still saw this boss to be ridiculous. Once you take out about a quarter of her HP she starts guarding nearly everything you throw at her perfectly and the moment there is any gap in your block string she immediately throws her DP (down+SP in this game) in your face. I can't say how many startup frames that thing has, but it comes out fast enough to beat both standing and crouching lights, at least on Waka. Worse still is that she can literally counter you with it mid-combo if you don't cut it short before the last two hits of Waka's light combo, so even successfully landing a hit isn't completely safe. If a character in a fighting game had a DP like this, they would be severely overpowered. It has massive blockstun making it nearly impossible to even move and no recovery frames in the air allowing her to use a jump attack that is active for days and has good vertical range. On top of that it wins against almost any clash since it rapidly hits multiple times.
People have been saying that it's wiser to invest in skills as opposed to stats, and that may be true. I focused on stats; prioritized defense which was at about 50%, while my attack was at maybe 30%. Neither made any big difference. She still hit like a truck and I was doing bug bites to her. The only skills I had were the hi and double jumps and the first SP skill, which was my DP. And I can confirm that if I didn't have that DP I don't think I would have been able to beat her.
It seems DPs actually do have some invulnerability frames, like in actual fighting games, but very few. Either that, or I just got stupid lucky. Basically, what I had to do was use my M+H liberally until I could kill the add. After he was gone, I actually waited for her to start doing her DP spam. This can actually be beaten by your own DP, but because of the amount of forward momentum it has, if you time it too early you'll soar right under her descent. If you time it too late her jump...medium? I think?...will counter hit you. But if you time it perfectly the invuln frames of your DP will let you past the jump attack and she'll be at the perfect height of her fall so you won't go under her. Once I found that sweet spot I was able to land this consistently. Once I got her in the corner I could juggle her there with standing medium into standing heavy and relaunch her with my DP which is much easier since you can't get behind her while she's cornered meaning you don't need to be perfect on the timing.
I did this on a fresh run on Waka who I believe was at lv. 15, and this fight honestly makes me feel like they intended for you to take an already leveled up character into the harder difficulties.
You gotta think of it as something akin to the likes of Castle Crashers.
Difficulty isn't so much based on skill, as much as just playing to level-up to get through the next part. Which I have no problems with, tbh.
At lvl10 you should rinse the first level and this'll repeat exponentially as you replay and increase difficulty, whilst levelling your character's powers and abilities. It's a grind game done well, imo.
Be great if I knew what any of this ♥♥♥♥ meant lol
Basically, after you kill the big dude that's there with her, wait for her to start doing that move where she does a vertical jump slash (she likes to use this move over, and over, and over...). When she uses that, there is a small window where you can do your own vertical jump slash and it will go through hers without you taking damage and will hit her. Just do that over and over.
All the rest was me ranting.
At least, that was my experience. Sure, i've probably got killed once or twice, but... well. The game is 2 hours long, and I've played for just 2 hours, so you can do the math.
I'm not trying to say that I'm some kind of next level gamer whatsoever. Just pointing out an easy way to go.
Cheers!
