[FIXED] Game locked at 720p resolution
System Specs:
intel i7 5775c
EVGA gtx 770 sc 2gb : driver version 359.06 as of 12/1/15
16 gb ram
Windows 10 (64bit)

Everytime I go into the video options menu and change my resolution to literally ANYTHING, the game will ask less than a second later if I want to keep my settings without actually changing the resolution at all.

At first I thought that the reason the screen didn't flash immediatly after changing the resolution in the options menu (as tends to happen with almost every game in existance) was because the menu itself was locked at 720p and that the resolution wouldn't change until I got in-game, but sure enough once in-game I discovered that the game is just simply not changing the resolution no matter what I set it to; it's stuck at blurry 720p.

I've seen two other discussion threads about this same issue but they were essentially ignored, which only bothers me because of how simple the solution to it must be with so few people having experianced it.

Currently I'm hoping that reinstalling the game itself and updating my graphics drivers will do the trick here but I kinda doubt it.

EDIT: Fixed thanks to this post:
I Fixed the issue & am finally playing 4k res...Go to browse file left click on game exe. & disable DPI & on compatiblitiy i swiched it to windows 7 now no more 720p Enjoy :)

Wow, I was considering getting this while it was on sale but I'm not running 720p on my 1440p monitor

They implemented the feature badly. You just restart the game after confirming the changes, that's it. Sorry for not seeing this earlier, I would've given an answer much quicker. As for Cable Guy, yes it runs at 1440p, that's how I played it.

Now while I really appriciate the response, before I even posted this dicussion thread I had done what you had suggested a couple of times.

Even though I still can't seem to get the game to render at a resolution higher than 720p internally I did notice something interesting. You know that little steam pop-up that comes up everytime you start up gaming stating something along the lines of "press Tab+Lshift to open Steam Overlay", whenever I change the internal resolution to something higher than 720p, that steam overlay message thing becomes suuuper pixelated, kinda like the game is tricking my GPU into thinking it's running the game at 1080p or 1440p or 4K when in reality it's internally rendering everything at 720p still.

So yeah, that's pretty odd. I honestly don't know what the culprit could be now other than the 4K Vizio tv I use as my computer monitor which has caused trouble with some other games like Crysis by locking the frame-rate to 24fps through HDMI whenever playing it at 1080p.

Maybe I really am a very special case seeing as I'm using pretty decent hardware unlike one other person with the same problem using an an intel APU... :(

I'm having this exact issue and nothing seems to be helping.

As far as I can tell the UI elements are made for 720p but the game itself is definitely running at 1920x1080 for me.

I've seen videos of the game running at 4k so there's no doubt in my mind that the game can technically be played at a resolution higher than 720p, but when I and a few other people change the resolution to anything at all other than 1280x720 the internal resolution still remains at a very pixelated 720p.

Possible reasons for this:
1. I'm using an HDTV as a monitor using HDMI
2. When I ran the game for the first time (through big picture mode) it very quickly jumped into the game which I'm not used to happening: ie. Registry error?
3. I'm technically using an APU (intel i7 5775c) even though I made sure that my Pci-e GPU was the primary graphics processor within my uefi bios, this game apparently has issues with APU's so maybe that's a thing idk
4. This game has issues with my gtx 770 + the latest nvidia drivers

the game is 1080p and not 720p.

It LOOKS as if nothing's changed but the resolution did change if you look carefully enough. Restart the game if you have to. I have got no issues with it.

Ehm, works fine here with GTX 970 G1 and latest Driver...

But did you actually know that you have to restart the game after changing the resolution?
Then it works. Was the same for me.

Mine looks to be stuck at 720p no matter what. Disabling DPI scaling and/or enabling Windows 7 compatibility mode make absolutely no discernible difference on my Win 10 x64 system. I compared GPU usage before and after just to be sure, and it's exactly the same at 1080p, 1440p, and 2160p as it is at 720p. WIll see if I can force SGSSAA next.

Thats weird. Did you already try a driver update?
