Tropical Coast Act 3 glitch at the very beginning

Right at the start of the level, when I'm zipping down the rails, I'm supposed to switch lanes right before a big fan, but I just can't. Dodge buttons don't do anything, and if I press jump, I get a weird glitch where Sonic floats up off camera and doesn't come back down. I can press B to drop, but then I die. What do I do?

I have never encountered such a glitch. What are your PC specs? Have you tried enabling public beta test mode?

Standard issue Dell Optiplex 790 (full specs here: https://i.dell.com/sites/csdocuments/Shared-Content_data-Sheets_Documents/en/us/optiplex-790-customer-brochure.pdf) with a Radeon R7 240 installed, system is Windows 7 Ultimate x64. No, I haven't tried public beta test mode, to be honest I haven't heard of it before and don't know how to enable it.

The instructions are listed in one of the pinned threads. Those specs are very weak and outdated but with the silicon and scalping crisis(s) going on, I don't recommend upgrading right now even for used parts.
