So whats with that briefcase thing on the bottom right?
So I just finished the first 3 levels of this game and apperently have 2 things in this briefcase. So my question is, how do I use them? The buttons on this game are so wacky I dont know what button enables the briefcase to open and what buttons discard those items. Also, how do I use those items?

If you're not in the beta patch branch, you push your right analog stick in (R3), from memory. If you're in the beta patch branch, you just use the d-pad. Pretty sure they're listed on your controls by going into the options menu to check, either way.

Beta patch branch? Is that something I can join or is it too late? Also, the controls are only listed for when your in a zone, not when your in a stage select.

Or public test branch, I guess? From the pinned topics.

For me the briefcase opens and closes when you press the right analog stick.
The briefcase is your inventory for items that can help you beat a level or find red rings but it can only hold 5 or 6 items.

Ah yes, I do wish that the game would tell me what they do though? I figured out you can only activate them during a level and so I used one but I had no idea what it did lol.

There is invincibility (the one with the stars), speed up (with a shoe), bomb wisp ( that purple thing), rings, lives and then there is the wing that let you jump to the next checkpoint or more.
It could be that I forgot one.
Yes, the game is bad at telling you the mechanics.

Oh nice thanks for the tip, ill be sure to remember that. Btw, is there any way to run faster other than holding the right trigger button? (The R2 button if using the PS3 controller) Is it possible sonic gains speed as he moves by just using the left analog stick?
Leonard Jun 24, 2016 @ 6:23am
Yes, you can use the spindash to be faster. Press the left trigger, let go of it and immediatly hold it again. It mostly just works in straight paths.
No, you don't gain momentum with the analog stick so you basically want to hold the right trigger most of the time.

Ok cool thanks. But the technique your talking about that involves using the spindash, it only lasts for a few seconds right? Because ive held the spindash button but it only lasts for like not even 2 seconds (im assuming because the mission that asks me to use it for more than 2 seconds isnt unlocking)

The missions don't affect the abilities. The spindash last infinitly if you do it how I descriped it (something the game also doesn't tell you).
