Worst Story in Series

This is the only game in the series where I hate what they did to the story. Games like 06 had plotholes but the general story at least tried. This is just bad storytelling. What is the Lost Hex? How does Tails know about it? Why are the zeti controlled by a magic conch shell? How does Tails remove his robot armor after just one cutscene after he had it on? Why is Tails so out of character as a whole? Why is Sonic out of character? Why are the zeti so uninspired? At least Eggman is still good, although it’s time they stop using Cubot.

When I play a Sonic game the truth be told I never take the plot seriously. Army of animals vs scientist, blue hedgehog running around faster than sound smashing mad scientists plans and robots and bases.

It's just impossible for me to take this series seriously plot wise, lol I'm sorry but it really is.

Suspension of disbelief, and Ian Flynn is just a good writer so I don’t mind in the comics.

I like the stories because they use silly elements which take themselves seriously. It balances everything out.

Comics are only good long enough for editorial and executive medling to screw it over over with crossover events, shifts in focus to address changes elsewhere in the franchise, and new characters shoved in just because the writer decided to be a weeb that day.

The consistency of the tone of the game stories has been all over the place as well, and the cast keeps getting changed out every 4 to 5 games. I see no reason to be invested in the plot anymore.

Recently, yes. After Sonic Colors, the previous writers got replaced by people who knew nothing about the series (literally). If you want to see Sonic behave like he usually does, I’d suggest you pick up Sonic Unleashed, and Sonic Adventure 2. In Adventure 2, he is confident, but takes serious situations more serious. He is a teen at the time after all. In Unleashed, he is a bit wiser, but can still spark some humor. (and not the bad humor from Lost World).

Yeah. A piece of trivia is that the new writers at first had to go on Wikipedia. So their knowledge of the characters is really forced and sometimes incorrect. Tails, for example, never acted this way until Lpst World. I suggest you pick the Dark Story in Adventure 2 first before doing the Hero side, but it doesn’t matter. The Dark Side has more background lore, while the Hero Side is more basic.

Even though Sonic always had a story until now. Sonic 1, CD, 2, 3, Adventure, Adventure 2, Shadow, 06 all connected perfectly well. Even though Shadow and 06 didn’t have great stories you can tell they at least tried. And that’s with me leaving out Unleashed, Battle, Riders, and Black Knight which had good stories even though they didn’t fit into a specific time

CD? Didn't that only connect with Sonic 4 Episode II?
