The levels are designed in a learning curve but no there's no tutorial per se. It helps a lot if you've played any of the prior games namely Stealth Bastard / Stealth Bastard Deluxe. If you're wondering why the names of the predecessors are different, it's because they changed the name to a more presentable one later on.

EDIT: Is there anything in particular that you're struggling with?

I can't rescue the first clone you come to who's trapped under some kind of wall. I'm stuck in the room with him. Would be nice if the game told you what keys to use... lol

Hmm... If you gave a screenshot I could help you out.

Yeah I am in the same boat as WTSherman. I have really no clue what I am supposed to do in game. I have not spent a lot of time on it though. I will see if I can find some walk throughs on youtube... just something to get me started.

They really do need some simple instructions somewhere though.

As a long time player I did not think much of it as it all builds upon everything that you learn in the original game. But I understand what you mean. Here are the basics:
  • There are plenty of environmental hazards which will kill you such as Buzzsaws, Lasers, Closing walls, etc. These should be avoided for obvious reasons. =)
  • The game plays a lot on the visibility, staying in well lighted areas means you will get spotted by enemies / cameras. Note: Getting spotted doesn't necessarily mean the death of you in all cases. For example, early on you will come across an AlarmBot which will sound the alarm when it spots you :AlarmBot:
  • The color of your googles indicates your visibility which is also mentioned at the bottom of your screen. (Green = Not visible, Amber = Partially Visible, Red = Fully Visible)
  • The goal is to complete all levels which are scattered across the metroidvania style overworld and save your fellow clones.
  • The game is divided into 6 chapters of 10 levels each (e.g. Chapter 1 would look like this: 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, 1-5, 1-6, 1-7, 1-8, 1-X, 1-Y).
  • Similar to the organization of levels in the original game, level 8 is a boss level and levels X and Y of each chapter are secret levels that are hidden.
  • All levels in a chapter are built araound a single gadget. Once you've cleared the boss level (level 8) of a chapter you gain access to the gadget for that chapter.
  • Each level has one or more clones for you to save. You save them by fulfilling certain conditions to lead them to the exit. Sometimes this means you have to 'kill enemies' it can also mean you need to move lifts to their location, etc.
  • The number of clones in the level are mentioned in several places:
    1. The number on top of the door of each level
    2. When inside a level, the numbers at the bottom right corner (e.g. 0/2 means you have rescued 0 out of 2 clones in the level)
    3. Once you have rescued all clones in a level it will be denoted by the Clone symbol on top of the door and also in the Test Chambers select screen.
  • Finally, there are green briefcases scattered around the overworld which represent collectibles (either the hat / body part of a costume)

Feel free to ask if there's something you would like to know.

Would be nice to know what the progressbar on top of the exit-door of each chamber informs you about.

That's an indicator of progress / how many terminals are hacked / remaining. Each time a terminal gets hacked it the bar grows.

but the bar is never full when the Chamber is completed...

Are the "Test"s mandatory?

Yes, you can say so. You run around and explore but the collectibles and other levels are mostly gated in a way that you won't be able to access them without completing prior levels or acquiring the necessary equipment.

In generaly I would describe it as such:
You can't jump from 2-1 to 2-3. But you can always go back and visit the prior sections whenever you want. Typically once you get the next world's equipment you probably want to go back and check for the past world X and Y levels.

Drücke "W" um den Test zu beginnen =)
Based on your map, you haven't completed any levels yet. Test = Level.
Go to the door in your 2nd screenshot and press "W" to begin 1-1. The path to the next levels will open up after completing it and once you've completed 1-1 thru 1-8 you'll be able to get to the blue area which is the 2nd world.

Thanks again! It's obvious this game needs some sort of guide. :yawning_creep:
By the way, I'd already startet this test once, and a timed sequence started, in which I didn't know what to do, so I pressed Alt+F4. ;-)
