Text size too small or full screen?

Sooooo has anyone else had the issue of not being able to turn on full screen? ALt Enter doesnt work there is no in game option. WIth it being windowed there is no way to make the text bigger and on my screen its like you need superman vision to even read it.

I just bought the game, because it seems quite extensive and exactly like what I want to play, but the hud is supersmall. In the settings you can set it to 300%, but that doesn't change anything. It stays supersmall. Whether full screen or window mode.
