Crystalline and Terran are probably the most reliably good factions, but I don't think that makes them OP per say, just the best.
Sentinel spinners are a massive pain unless you have huge burst damage so they get a special shoutout.
Sentinels have very overpowered armour spikes, too. Extremely durable, fast, and can tear through ships and even asteroids like they're nothing.
And it has to be a really big ship if it is also going to resist nukes. The most annoying thing with the reds is that their hull only comes in one size, so if you just spam the hell out of it, you'll hit the block limit. Also, anything explosive melts them in an instant.
1) Modular weapons should theoretically be countered by their limited firing arc, but the Tinkerell's wonderful thrusters and shields allow for maneuverable and heavily armored doom cannons.
2) Tinkerell also have the best solar panels in the game. Make a ship with solar panels and drones, and you've got yourself a fleet within minutes.
I don't think I've used half P on healing drones, but I had reasonable success with Red building huge, very porous ships with are completely connected (no arms!!!)
