Your refering to the gatling gun I assume.
Well my problem with that is much the same with the sentinels, its their ONLY good weapon and one good weapon does not really make a strong faction.
Even their laser are meh. Though fair enough their damage is insane and those repair drones only make their quick healing even worse.
Farmers have strong shields, R production, long range, cheap weapons and heavy armor if you get a little creative. Terrans are also great, but everything else feels too "gimmicky" or incomplete I suppose.
Reds and Sentinels are built weird, they feel like a hammer faction but without the hammer.
Take the modular cannon faction they build their ships around a massive gun and basically smash through anything before they get killed, or crystals same concept only with armor and with basic but reliable weapons. Reds just feel unfinished or uncertain of what they are supposed to be. But that may just be my opinion.
With a setup like this you can make a build that obliterates ships with significantly higher P value, including agents. Also be warned you may need a lot of forward thrusters to counter the recoil.
They are a glass cannon faction, they melt EVERYTHING. But everything melts them. Good faction overall, just not my cup of tea(I am a HORRIBLE designer for fast and manuverable ships, Better at battleships(ok fine bricks with guns, happy?))
For now you can try Cold Fusion Gods. When i was testing new regions.lua values for my unreleased custom faction, i picked Sentinels and started in a small area COMPLETELY surrounded by cold fusion gods. I tried to ram into a few of their ships with my >500p spinner made of armor spikes, and they destroyed me about instantly. Upon closer inspection their armor is dumber than Sentinels and they have horrifying rapid fire cannons.
Agreed, although I like the concept of a faction that is centered around a selection of superweapons of varying size and power, with ships being more or less built around them.
But hercules ruin that Idea by stacking ridiculous health and armor on top of some stupid strong weapons.
