How do you switch the rendering API?

The installed version of the Intel graphics driver has known issues in D3D11.
Please install the recommended driver version or switch to a different rendering API.

This is the error I get. I can't install newer drivers due to my gpu being so old so switching the api seems like the only option to prevent constant crashing. Nothing I google seems to work though. Anyone know any launch options?
