[SPOILERS] New ending totally recontextualizes the game in a bad way

After playing Ratshaker for the first time some time ago, I decided to show it to a friend after the update and the experience is TOTALLY different.

What used to be a very interesting family drama that wrapped up perfectly is now yet another shallow, cult-related, Silent Hill inspired mess that just doesn't work at all.

A great idea that used the dissonance of the MEME RAT SHAKING XD to make the twist of horrible family violence is now haphazardly stapled to a much less interesting story that has human sacrifices, missing people and a dead baby that just disappears from the narrative without much care. The final jumpscare doesn't even work that much anymore, and don't get me started on the poop-n-farts room.

Am I the only one who thinks that Ratshaker has actually become worse after the update?
Can the legacy version be played anymore?
