I mean, Steam has mechanisms for all the potential situations here...if you think it's worth it now, buy it, if you think it might be worth it when it goes on sale, wishlist it, if you're not sure if it's worth it you can ask questions here or the discord[discord.gg], and if you don't ever think it's going to be worth it, then you can go find another game, there are tons of great ones out there.
With that said i would like to say that more than the price point deterring me from buying the game is seeing how this developer responds to the situation of its community feedback with a patronizing tone and dismissal. Just about every post this developer has made (that i have read) in response to feedback for how the game is handled is more or less "I hear you, thanks for the feedback, i just dont give a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lol (smiley face)" reworded to have the same message "i dont care"
This is the kind of person that wants us to support his small novel idea on the merit that it exists. It has a very (very) small dedicated community of players that yearn to have more new people to experience the game with. This developer's pride and stubbornness is more important than sustaining a viable community just to make a few extra dollars
If this is a misunderstanding on my part then i would be willing to apologize, However this developer has made clear with their behaviour that he (she, or they) can only and will only behave a certain way about what they want to do regardless of what their community wants--even its more deserving dedicated players. At the the state this game is in now, and beyond.
With all that being said again, i do think the game would have been a lot of fun, and i would have enjoyed playing it daily for a comfortable duration if it were more welcoming with its price point and without its developer's arrogant disposition and predictability.
Anyway, I think it definitely is a misunderstanding, because I don't think there's a lot happening between the lines there. Tone is pretty tough to read on the Internet, so if you go into a message already expecting it to be smarmy, it's pretty easy for it to sound that way. Same thing if you expect it to be magnanimous.
Tell ya' what, though: if you ever decide to play the game, hit me up ("warningtrack" in game) and I'll be glad to show you around, play some casual games, mentor a bit for the more in-depth stuff, whatever. :) It'll be a good time. Or join the Discord (www.discord.gg/spyparty) and poke around. You might be pleasantly surprised by the community that's built up around this game already, at this price point.
I guess I don't understand this confusion. In my judgement, which you might disagree with and that's totally okay, the game isn't ready to reach a wider audience, which is what happens with a sale. It seems pretty simple. There is no matchmaking, the lobby is super rough, the handicapping and unlocks need tuning, and it's missing a bunch of planned features. Before a sale makes sense those things need fixing. Let me know if that doesn't clear things up.
Again, it's okay if you disagree with my assessment, but that's my assessment and is how I'm running it. That's no arrogance, it's just trying my best to make the right decisions for the game.
In my opinion, the game deserves its price, it's just too high for me, so I wait. But I know the game is not just a "funny game for a few minutes". Great game it seems, great mechanics, great job.
Just one question : you said (here on in another thread idk) that you will add the possibility to play with a friend who don't have the game : my English level is not really good so I did not undersand if it were a possibility or a planned feature ? Because with that feature, the price seems already lower to me.
Well, bye bye and thanks for your work, I just support your work with my heart, but I know I will support it with some money some day ;)
Yes, there is a feature planned that will let you play with a friend. It's not currently in the game, but will be eventually. I don't have a time frame for that, but I'm definitely interested in doing it. I think it will work by giving you an extra account that will only play your main account, so you can loan it to friends and show them the game. It needs more thought (and a bunch of programming).
