Yet another post complaining about the price
I really feel that price is to much..

The price needs to drop by about 50%
A lot of time game developers get caught up in the price they feel they need to recoup the work put into the game, but for a niche game like this that really only shines through playing with friends, the price needs to be cheaper/more accessible. Lower the price & you'll make money. Every single streamer & friend I have played this game with has told me they would buy it if it was $10.

Game gets boring after a few hours of continuous play unless you're playing with friends. Again, this is a great game to get a bunch of people together, have some drinks, and murder each other. If you're just playing alone with randoms or against bots, it begins to feel very shallow and repetitive, this is what I fell after playing at my friends house for a couple of hours.

If this was 10$ thousands of people would buy it for sure.

Yet again I know you've heard this a million times, not trying to change devs opinion since they know what they're doing, just dropping my 2 cents and giving my insight, nothing else, however, good luck with the game development looks fantastic.

In London terms the devs have "copped a deafun" .

If that means "listened and considered it but ended up disagreeing" then yep! :)
To pretend not to have heard something

Given that I've replied to all the price concern threads many times I think we need a better more appropriate colloquialism? I had a Turkish girlfriend once and the Turkish language always had really great aphorisms, like "I wouldn't go down the well on his rope," and pithy stuff like that. We need one for "the dev has explained his reasoning many times very calmly and politely and with empathy and yet people keep posting about it because this is the internet where people have forgotten how to simply disagree with a decision and be okay with that." ;)

I mean, Steam has mechanisms for all the potential situations here...if you think it's worth it now, buy it, if you think it might be worth it when it goes on sale, wishlist it, if you're not sure if it's worth it you can ask questions here or the discord[discord.gg], and if you don't ever think it's going to be worth it, then you can go find another game, there are tons of great ones out there.
Well said, while it seems strange that this game could sell better if there was some kind of sale, even a small one, as a dev you should realise that a lot of people HAVE wishlisted it (myself included) but see no sale ("if you think it might be worth it when it goes on sale, wishlist it,") so therefore are thinking negativity about why it has never been on sale. So no I wont go down the well on this rope until I have a ladder as well ( well).
Also I have about 30 games on my wishlist which go on sale sometimes and I make a decision if I feel it is value or not, spy party is forever not on sale and that leads to a certain way of thinking about how the devs are considering their potential customers, pretty sure i`m not the only one as you have mentioned price concerns.

I definitely understand where you're coming from, waiting a long time for a game you want feels bad, I empathize. But the game's not really ready for a sale yet, it's too rough in some places, and needs a bunch of work, but it will eventually happen I'm sure, not sure if during Early Access but I'd assume it would follow a more normal sale pattern after release. But for now, I appreciate your patience, and at least we're all lucky there's no shortage of other good games out there to play! Hopefully you can trust that I'm trying to do the right thing for the game in the long run!

I would like to say i would have definitely bought this game if it had ever gone on sale. As phantom has pointed out i have put this on my wishlist a year ago and have been waiting for one since then.

With that said i would like to say that more than the price point deterring me from buying the game is seeing how this developer responds to the situation of its community feedback with a patronizing tone and dismissal. Just about every post this developer has made (that i have read) in response to feedback for how the game is handled is more or less "I hear you, thanks for the feedback, i just dont give a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lol (smiley face)" reworded to have the same message "i dont care"

This is the kind of person that wants us to support his small novel idea on the merit that it exists. It has a very (very) small dedicated community of players that yearn to have more new people to experience the game with. This developer's pride and stubbornness is more important than sustaining a viable community just to make a few extra dollars

If this is a misunderstanding on my part then i would be willing to apologize, However this developer has made clear with their behaviour that he (she, or they) can only and will only behave a certain way about what they want to do regardless of what their community wants--even its more deserving dedicated players. At the the state this game is in now, and beyond.

With all that being said again, i do think the game would have been a lot of fun, and i would have enjoyed playing it daily for a comfortable duration if it were more welcoming with its price point and without its developer's arrogant disposition and predictability.

Boy, I read the dev's replies a *lot* differently. Just in this last post, you see "I definitely understand where you're coming from" and "I appreciate your patience." I'm not sure how much nicer you can get, without even factoring in that they're responding to the same thing over and over.

Anyway, I think it definitely is a misunderstanding, because I don't think there's a lot happening between the lines there. Tone is pretty tough to read on the Internet, so if you go into a message already expecting it to be smarmy, it's pretty easy for it to sound that way. Same thing if you expect it to be magnanimous.
Saying something as in your inverted commas is easy, ( politicians do it all the time) but if answering my main point is...." But the game's not really ready for a sale yet, it's too rough in some places, and needs a bunch of work," thats like saying no sale just sell it for as much as we can. No sense at all to me as the customer.

Not sure how any of that makes the responses "arrogant," which is the part I was replying to. If someone just wishes the game would go on sale, fair enough, but I'm not sure there's anything more significant than that going on.

Tell ya' what, though: if you ever decide to play the game, hit me up ("warningtrack" in game) and I'll be glad to show you around, play some casual games, mentor a bit for the more in-depth stuff, whatever. :) It'll be a good time. Or join the Discord (www.discord.gg/spyparty) and poke around. You might be pleasantly surprised by the community that's built up around this game already, at this price point.

Sorry for the delay, I was on vacation. As warningtrack says, I'm not sure how else I can say I understand but respectfully disagree. I joke around a little sometimes because I'm a human being who needs to come up with different ways of saying the same thing over and over again sometimes. It really sounds like to me that some folks aren't used to being disagreed with politely...I am genuinely sorry if some folks feel like I'm being arrogant or dismissive, that's not my intent. But I'm not going to put the game on sale right now because that would harm the game right now, and making SpyParty deep and great is my top priority. So, again, I'm sorry you have to wait, and if you decide to wait then I appreciate your patience, and if you decide to move on I understand and wish you well. Not sure what else I can say, to be honest.

I guess I don't understand this confusion. In my judgement, which you might disagree with and that's totally okay, the game isn't ready to reach a wider audience, which is what happens with a sale. It seems pretty simple. There is no matchmaking, the lobby is super rough, the handicapping and unlocks need tuning, and it's missing a bunch of planned features. Before a sale makes sense those things need fixing. Let me know if that doesn't clear things up.

Again, it's okay if you disagree with my assessment, but that's my assessment and is how I'm running it. That's no arrogance, it's just trying my best to make the right decisions for the game.

I'm just adding my sadness to see this game in my whishlist for so long and never see it on sale. I finally came here to see if there were other people like me. But I am glad checker explained why the game was never on sale, it vanished the impression of "I don't give a ♥♥♥♥ bros" I had, so thanks. Your messages seem consider a futur sale (even if it happens in a long time), so I can keep the game in my whishlist, I'm totally ok with that, knowing one day I'll have the occasion to buy it a little cheaper (I'm not waiting the game to be at 10 bucks).

In my opinion, the game deserves its price, it's just too high for me, so I wait. But I know the game is not just a "funny game for a few minutes". Great game it seems, great mechanics, great job.

Just one question : you said (here on in another thread idk) that you will add the possibility to play with a friend who don't have the game : my English level is not really good so I did not undersand if it were a possibility or a planned feature ? Because with that feature, the price seems already lower to me.

Well, bye bye and thanks for your work, I just support your work with my heart, but I know I will support it with some money some day ;)

Thanks for the kind note, I really appreciate it!

Yes, there is a feature planned that will let you play with a friend. It's not currently in the game, but will be eventually. I don't have a time frame for that, but I'm definitely interested in doing it. I think it will work by giving you an extra account that will only play your main account, so you can loan it to friends and show them the game. It needs more thought (and a bunch of programming).
