Presumably it's an issue with wineskin not playing well with Mac High Sierra.
I am uncertain if posting these instructions or this suggestion somehow breaks the Steam EULA, so please have some grace with me if it does. I'm just trying to help.
This hacky solution isn't officially supported by Steam or the developers of Spy Party, so don't bother them about it. I bear no responsibility for how this may affect your steam installation, but I don't anticipate copying the exe out of the steamapps directory will break anything.
Download Wineskin Winery: http://wineskin.urgesoftware.com/tiki-index.php
Open it, and click the little plus to install a Wineskin Engine - you ultimately want something like "WS9Wine2.22" in the list of installed engines.
Once that is done, create a new blank wineskin wrapper. Call it 'Windows Steam for SpyParty', and open it up in finder. Right click on the created app and select 'Show Package Contents'. There will be a 'Wine' application in there, so open that. Then, click "Advanced Options" and under Tools click Winetricks. Update winetricks, and then run the apps/steam winetrick. This will install steam. Then, head back to the configuration and select the steam exe.
Test run it, and install and run spy party through that version of steam.
(I initially had instructions for just wrapping the downloaded executable, but those didn't work for logging into the lobby, so these updated instructions show how to install steam in a wineskin so you can launch SpyParty with the steam integration.)
edit: though if you buy from spyparty.com there are still some bugs with the mac build. There are workarounds that you can find on the official forums at https://secure.spyparty.com/beta/forums/index.php
Here's the log: https://pastebin.com/8HYXeHpR
By far the easiest thing to do is refund on steam and buy it on spyparty.com and use the installer zip there, which is well tested. If you're feeling brave you could try to get it working with wineskin using the files installed in the steam download (which shouldn't be working).
Varanas, the latest macos zip on the home page has all the wineskin stuff fixed, by the way.
