Dante's Royal Guard
I am having trouble understanding how it works exactly, in DMC 5 it drains its power from DT gauge in order to not break if you don't do a perfect block, but in DMC 4 it seems that only perfect blocks are not breakable and everything else just breaks it from 1 hit? Am i misunderstanding something, or is it supposed to be like that? I've never used royal guard until i've played DMC 5 so now going back i wonder how it works here exactly

It's about the frames so it has strict timing, especially DMC3
Royal Guard was always the hardest to learn, but most rewarding style. The issue is that it was a bit too punishing when you failed. DMC5 added the fact it'll drain DT to make it much more Approachable. DMC3 or DMC4 if you do an Imperfect guard, then you'll either get chip damage or the guard will be broken.

I see, thanks. I was trying to get timings for the lightning guy, but its really hard, so i ended up just doing it the old but reliable way for now.
