Crash and Bug Report Thread
Hey there Demon Hunters,

While we hope that everyone will have a great time with Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition, there are always hitches and hiccups that may happen along the way, be they software or hardware issues or any other number of unforeseen problems. That said, we're creating a thread here for crash and bug reports that can be passed on to the development team for review.

Before submitting feedback, please try the following:

Verify the game's cache in Steam
If the game is crashing, you're getting black screens, or something is just off with the game in general, try verifying the game's files as outlined here. If files are missing or corrupted, Steam will replace only those files without needing to re-download and re-install the entire game. As part of this process, please disable your anti-virus to ensure that Steam is able to properly access files.

For NVIDIA SLI / ATI CrossFire Users
We strongly recommend disabling multi-GPU technologies such as SLI and CrossFire. DMC4SE does not support these technologies, and there is a possibility they may interfere with the game.

If you're experiencing a start-up crash or black screen, please post in our detailed feedback thread using the outlined provided there - it will help the development team investigate those specific issues.

To submit feedback, please use the following outline:

Feedback Outline
A) Your System Specs (Please be as specific as possible!)
  1. CPU name and model
  2. Graphics card/chip model
  3. Video driver version number
  4. Monitor refresh rate
  5. System memory size
  6. OS version (Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 64-bit/32-bit, etc.)
  7. OS language
  8. In-game settings (fps, resolution, anti-aliasing, refresh rate, v=sync, etc.)

B) Specific issue
Please share the specific issue and the area where you are experiencing the said behavior - if it's something happening outside of the game, such as a crash before the game starts, letting us know how you're trying to start the game or any messages that come up beforehand are helpful, too.

C) Detailed reproduction steps, if consistently reproducible.
This step in particular is extremely helpful for the development team. The more detailed info you can provide, the quicker the team can reproduce the error state and (hopefully) fix the issue.

D) A DxDiag report, hosted through an external service.
A DxDiag report -- a file generated from the DirectX Diagnostics Tool -- will provide detailed hardware, software, and driver setup for your PC. Directions on how to generate this file can be found here[www.fuzeqna.com]. You can upload this file to a service such as Dropbox, Google Docs, etc., and link to the file for us to review. Please do not post the entire text of the DxDiag in the thread!

Please note that any discussion unrelated to crashes or bugs may be deleted to keep the thread organized. Thank you for your feedback and cooperation!

short graphics bug repot: in the curse forest levels the brightess is too high
At the beginning of mission 4, Nero's play, we have to activate the Gyro Blade to destroy the barricade at the door. Normally you can use Devil Bringer to activate it and moving it. But after activating it, Devil Bringer won't make it move no matter how much you spam the button. The solution is you have to do devil bringer on air to make it move. Please fix this bug

this game doesn't support any 21:9 resolutions ( i.e. 2560x1080 / 3440x1440 ), modifying resolution in config.ini results irregularly stretched screen with huge black bars.

It is ridiculous that the special edition lacks this feature since the original dmc4 supports 21:9 natively.

The game appears to run fine, can't use the same high settings that i could in vanilla DMC4 and maintain 60fps.
Game appears to crash randomly, had this happen when recieveing key items, and twice in the middle of boss battles, meaning i've lost an entire chapters progress several times

The game just crash, at first it was after an hour, maybe more, and than it sarted to crash in less time, untill I was just at the menus and it crashed, didn't even started playing, Windows don't give me any reason, just it says that it crashed.

Please add support for 16:10 resolutions. Mine is 1440x900 and I get 2 black bars on top and bottom of the screen. Thanks!

In game settings:
resolution- 1366 x 768
aa - 8x
frame rate- variable
vsync- no
shadow and graphics quality - high

The game crashes at random during gameplay and sometimes in/before the main menu. It started when I used the steps in the laptop nvidia thread to make the game read my graphics card. The crashes didn't happen when it was reading the integrated card but the frame rate was much worse.

This issue I dont really know what to do, but the room that lies before Berial has a sooo long load time before fighting him. Playing as Vergil, it stuck loading forever after the second fight with him. And that room only has a Statue and a Style Shrine.

At the second time I fought Berial w/ Vergil, the game just stuck, I had to close the game via the task manager and now the mission 17 is just unplayable, making the game unfinishable!

Hoping to get an answer. cya.

Cannot even launch game. All that appears is a black windowed screen and the "application has stopped responding" dialog box, and the application terminates. I have tried everything from redownloading the game to installing on a different drive to disabling SLi to resetting driver defaults, none of which resolves the issue.

58-60, at 1280x720 with everything maxed.

Basically, the game launched and played well enough this morning, and when I came back to it later it refused to launch. For a moment it would say I was playing it on my friends list, and then it returned to the default "Online" status without the game ever starting.

OS: Windows 7 64-bit

B)
I've had verious crashes. throughout the game. Once as vergil in bloody palace, but most frequently as Lady in the mission 01 fight against dante. The odd part is, these crashes dont crash the game alone. They crash my entire PC. No BSOD, but the signal to the monitor drops out, sound constantly loops and after a short time the PC shuts down and reboots. No error of any kind pops up (that I know how to obtain atleast). I tried updating my graphics drivers (which were rather outdated) but the crashes persist.

C)
I have found a constant way to produce one of the crashes for Lady. From what I can see, the issue occurs when playing mission 01, the fight against dante, playing as Lady, on Dante must die difficulty. I've tried on Son of sparda and Legendary dark knight mode, where these crashes dont occur.

B) The Game does not recognise the directional Buttons on my Controller (TRUST GXT 530) but every other Buttons on this Controller. Both Analoge Sticks work, but the right analoge Stick has changed Kamera rotations. Right analoge Stick UP turns the Camera Left an Right analoge Stick LEFT turns the camera down.
Checked this Controller with the old DMC4 from 2008 on this PC in DX10. Everything works fine.

This Button problem makes Dante nearly impossible to play, do to the lack of Style switching.
