How to deal with Chimera'd assault ?

Especially in Mission 13
Also they have no animation that indicates when they're going to flail their blades around if I'm not mistaken.

I believe you just have to know the timing. That makes them really really annoying.
Just stay away and use something ranged

^yeah, pretty much. Go in for a combo or two after their blades flail but for the most part you're in for a slow and lame fight.

Nero can use his devil arm and charge shots
Dante can use drive/pandora
Vergil can use drive/judgement cut/rapid slash/round trip/all summoned sword moves (rain is great against them)
Trish can use round trip and follow with pretty much anything
Lady can use just about anything really though kalina ann is probably your best bet.

So it's pretty much just range and jump or 1-2 attack then jump away... :/
I was just trying to get stylish points, but sometimes they flail their blades in the middle of million slash... aaand poof, back to no stylish rank.
Assaults are the real a s s in the game.

Get nero. Drag the scarecrow to the exit and get your devil charge ready.. the sword one with devil trigger.

You need to time this so you will attack when they jump at you..

You don't have to use *only* ranged attacks. Once you hit the chimera with a few good shots you'll see the "bud" on top retract its petals, meaning it needs a few moments to recover. Unfortunaly it gets back up shortly afterwards but you can combo it normally in the meantime.

Nero's Charge Shot 3 is excellent for doing this and is a great move in general, so you should really assign gun attacks to a shoulder button on your controller (I like L1, putting devil trigger on X/square) so you can be constantly charging it.

None of this stops Chimera Assault being really annoying enemies, so it's a ton of fun playing as lady and blasting them to bits with her OP projectiles.

Hmm, I've never noticed anything about the"bud"... but thank you for the tips.
Mission 13/14 for Dante tho, so no Lvl3 charge shot.

All I can do is DRI one assault once they jump out of the ground and that's it...then I have to chicken out while dealing with the others chimera assault

Well... you can damege the flower with ranged attacks (guns, summoned swords) so the chimera wwon't swing its blades
